A businessman had taken the day off to pick up his new BMW convertible...
It was a beautiful day, so he decided to put the top down and take it for a drive in the country.
As he drove down the country road, he noticed a young boy hitchhiking.
Anxious to show off his new car, the businessman pulled over to the side of the road and told the kid to get in.
At that point, the kid whistled, and a large yellow dog came bounding out of the woods beside the road.
The businessman said, "Wait a minute, you can't bring that big dog into my new car, he's all covered with mud and I have these nice new leather seats."
The kid replied, "that's OK mister, my dog will run along the side of the car."
The businessman said, "Well, it's your dog." and they drove off with the dog running along side of the car.
The businessman was showing the kid the neat features of his new car and forgot all about the dog.
Suddenly he remembered and asked, "Oh my God, where's your dog?"
The kid replied, "He's right along the side of the car."
The businessman looked down at his speedometer and saw he was doing sixty miles per hour.
"I don't think a greyhound can run this fast, let alone a big yellow dog," said the businessman.
"I told you he was fast," replied the kid, "he won't have any problem keeping up with your car."
This made the businessman a little miffed, so he pressed down on the gas pedal and sped up to seventy.
"How is your dog doing now?" he asked.
"The dog is doing fine," the kid responded, "he's really fast."
The businessman mashed down on the gas until he was doing ninety, then hollered over at the kid, "Is your dog still keeping up?"
"Yep," the kid yelled back, "he's breathing hard, but he is still along side of the car."
The businessman couldn't believe it so he slamed on his power brakes, screeched to a stop, unbuckled his seat belt, and leaned over the kid to have a look...
Sure enough, there was the dog.
"I'm flabbergasted," said the businessman, "that must be the fastest dog in the world."
"He looks like a regular dog, except... "
"What is that pink ring around his neck?"
The kid replies, "Oh, he's not used to stopping so fast... "
