I think these movies works so well for what is essentially a very very strong "origins" like movie but for an anti hero / villain, if you see it in that spectrum, it's exceptionally strong and create a very solid, anchered in reality character and an incredible build up.

they said harley is different ont his movie, shes not like the comic or the real harley personalitie. so its not arthur hallucination, its their halucination when music or when they sing they can imagine. but I'm sure arthur hallucinate harley too when he see her in he's prison.

The thing here is see it personally. Critics are frustrated Academy members that never made it to the Academy. And also many of the bad revews come from people who expected the same formula from Joker 1, but as many said Joker 2 has a different approach and a deeper meaning.
