The phrasing is brilliant. I don't even care about the difficult sweep picking and fast picking phrases. What blows my mind is how he knows what to play in context of the music. It's not just shredding the entire way through

Much of his playing reminds me of the session guitarists of the 70s, people like Larry Carlton and Elliot Randall. Its nice to see Max weave some jazz licks in, which I find the most interesting.

Love your phrasing Max, the staccato nature of a lot of your lines is like giving a blunt, but forward and to the point statement. Like you know what you want to say and you say it confidently, but musically.

I'm trying to deconstruct his phrasing methodology. He seems to give the listener's ear these small "two bar repeating/coherent phrases" to latch on and process what the melody is doing. And then a third phrase/bar may embelish on it, or may provide some sort of different refreshing movement for another bar or two. He's quite brilliant and gifted with creating a groove that the recipient can both feel and hear, and at the same time, somehow, create enough variation that keeps you completely on your toes.

Yeah his phrasing is really special, so is his overall command of the instrument. But whats cooler is he isn´t trying to be cool, at least not in the tradicional "rockstar" sense. Definitely my favourite young virtuoso.

The first time I heard this video I found it a bit.. special, a new sound and style, maybe a bit strange but impressive and then I had to listen it again.. and again... is was a few weeks ago but still now the more I listen it the more I appreciate and discover things.. it's so rich and full of everything... even some humor. And same things for all Max video... I want more again.. more please it's so new. This guy is really amazing, not just technical because here it's so natural and effortless, and so young, just crazy.

Yeah, Im 38 old guitar player... this kid is something special. I like that he sort of counteracts the whole "cool influencer tattoed pierced" virtuoso guitar player (Henson, Ichinka, Fernandez-Gardner, Richardson, etc). While those guys are weird on their own (specially Henson and Ichika), it seems like they have been forced to follow a more "typical rockstar" template, while Max just stands on his ground with his own quirkyness (which I love, because its the opposite of pretentious).

At that time, people like Led zepplin, Hendrix, Queen, 80’s Guns n roses, EVH etc… were the pop music of their day. Everyone was listening to them. They were world wide famous, so naturally the band members would become world renowned. Compare that to the amount of people you’ll find on the street that listen to Guitar Fusion music… Barely anyone. That’s why even max one of the best in the worlds KZbin channels has a relatively small amount of subscribers. Guitar playing has turned niche

This is right on the money! That's exactly what my ears have been telling me and what I've been sensing from his playing's slopes and curves. Without a question, the rounding is very Greg Howe. However, after listening to Max in all of his videos, I am convinced that he is bringing a whole new depth to the game and that a new guitar channel is being etched and built here.
