I am intrigued by the De Niro King of Comedy connection. Is De Niro a character like his Rupert Pupkin character and Joker is basically wishing he were a standup comic on tv, like him? He's even dressed like him with the orange suit. (That's a bit meta.) In that very next cut it is not De Niro walking out, it looks like Joker with the long hair. Does he flop in front of his first big audience and get booed? Is that the final straw? Or is that him finally getting an audience? Looking forward to finding out.

"My mother always told me to put on a happy face" "I used to think that my life was a tragedy, but now I realize it's a comedy: IF YOU JUST SMILE" Brilliant Basically laugh all your problems away. EVERY SINGLE ONE. This Joker will usher in chaos. Smiling represents apathy/turning a blind eye. A man who is unhinged from reality.

Um yeah, the guy on the right won the prediction game. The guy on the left (sorry first time on ur channel) said it would be Adam West "campy". It's the furthest thing from campy. Mental illness, plus life constantly kicking him, and if you pause and read that note he was writing its pretty deep.
@geraldglaza90745 жыл бұрын
I agree that Seth (guy on the right) definitely won the prediction. I thought that it would have a more Batman TV show/the Batman 1989 movie Jokers. It looks to be way darker and that is good. Thank you for commenting and taking the time to watch our video. We hope you watch more of them in the future.

Oh... More ideas... What if the laugh in the club is forced. It was a "fake it until you make it" situation. A person with a mental illness will often get that type of ridiculous advice. (Having bipolar disorder, I can say that is fact.) You attempt to be normal and maybe even over compensate. The song gives it away "Smile though your heart is breaking."
@ljohnson99885 жыл бұрын
Martin Scorsese is an executive producer for this film, and you can see a lot of his influence in the trailer. That scene with Robert De Niro is a tribute to the film The King of Comedy (both films took place in the same time period, so the scene might be a crossover). There are also elements of Raging Bull and Taxi Driver.
@el34glo595 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Definitely King of Comedy and Taxi Driver. Raging bull? Little bit maybe. I'm very excited that Scorcese was producer and that we can see his influences. Tells me he was pretty involved. Hoping this is great. Looks amazing and Joaquin is a beast, but it's a trailer. I'm hyped but trying to bring myself down a bit. Don't want to be disappointed

They should "shutter island" this movie, in the sense that this origin story it’s all him making it up. maybe the movie starts him natarating his origin story to his therapist/us, then at the end it was all a lie, he kills the therapist escapes the hospital and kills bruce wayne parents.. BOOYA!

I like the idea of him making up the films plot. "If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice." - Mark Hamill's Joker
@Fairneid225 жыл бұрын
It's a mash of Joel Schumacher movie called Fallen down A middle-aged man dealing with both unemployment and divorce, William Foster (Michael Douglas) is having a bad day. This joker movie is also a mix Martin scorsese movie Kings of comedy and Taxi driver. Watch those movies. This movie has it's own thing. If you wasn't looking at it like at comic book it be like... What would happen if Mr.Rogers was alive and flips out and played all of us into believing he was just acting not to be a dark person. An all it took was the cancellation of his shows and funding for kids, then boom real life joker. Then you can say The joker (Mr. rogers) couldn't put a smile on his face so he had to paint one on. "The worst part of mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't." Oscar nomination coming.

PREDICTION I think arthur has to go to arkham for tests into his mental stability. He's a carer for his disabled/elderly mother. He meets a girl, does well at an open Mic night at a comedy club then... his test results from arkham arrive and he has some sort of abnormality (the scene where the worker at arkham stares at him and Arthur replies with "what", i think the guy is shocked by arthurs test results) He has a bad day at work, he gets beaten up, His girlfriend will leave him and his mother will die all in one day. "All it takes is one bad day". He'll then adopt the "It's better to laugh than cry" mentality (the tear rolling down his face whilst using his hands to manipulate his mouth into a smile) He spirals into madness. Though it also looks like he acquires some sort of following. In the teaser there is multiple people wearing clown masks and they seem to be fighting the police, anarchists maybe ? Anyone else notice the comedy club seems to be called "pogos", a reference to the real life killer clown John Wayne gacy?
@NerfherdersAssemble5 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the anarchists wearing the clown masks are anarchists before Joker's influence or after. Would be kind of cool to see his newfound outlook on life be spread to a comedy club audience he addresses over time in the film.

Another thought. You mention the scumbags on the subway. He was also attacked by what appeared to be poor teens while wearing the same outfit. Was it the same day? Was he attacked by both rich and poor, a cross section of the city, one after another?
