"For my whole life, I didn't know if I even really existed." The core motive as to why Joker does what he does, is attention. He craves it, and will stop at nothing until all of history remembers him. That's why I love this movie so much. It shows you why Joker is who he is. He's so over the top just to be remembered. And in the end he just wants to make people smile. Whether forcefully, or willingly.

“ If I have to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice”~Joker Different writers write different reasons with the same general nihilistic message. Joker tells multiple stories of his past, truly no one will ever know why he is the way he is and honestly…it’s better that way.

*To be honest, Frank Sinatra has always been a genius in his music. He captures the lives of others well while singing. That's why "That's Life" was perfect on "Joker." Arthur Fleck became Joker due to mental, social and traumatic triggers. Amazing how a man like him felt good and managed to win in the end after becoming a villain. Joaquin Phoenix is a legend.*

I love by how the end of the movie Arthur literally became the definition of a person with nothing left to lose

I love this edit so much. When Frank says “I’ve been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet…”, the scenes show him doing just that. Such amazing detail.

I see the common misconception of people saying that the joker was driven to do the things he does even though he was a “good person”. People forget he was mentally ill too. Murder is never justifiable, no matter how society treats you.
