Just comes across that way, I believe- his set is always far too tightly scripted to be delivered drunk, although he makes it sound effortless. I always found that instances of heckling in his performances showed how practiced the set is, since they really throw him off for a good 30 seconds or so before he gets back on track… always sounds like the record skipped then suddenly catches the groove again!

Bullshit. There are a lot of great stand ups who are physical. George Carlin, Billy Connolly, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carrey, Carl Barron, Ron White, Iliza Shlesinger, Jimoen. The list goes on. Robin Williams is certainly one of, if not, The best ever because he was so wild and unpredictable on stage but there are a lot more than those three. Don't be ridiculous, mate.
