But hey since you asked I’m a huge fan of standup and I think Schaub is a hack, joke thief, fake, liar, displays horrendous character, shady, and treats other comics he can’t grift off of and the ones that work for him like crap. I’m from LA and love the Comedy Store. I used to go once a month minimum for many years. And I listen to a good amount of comedy pods. Love Theo, Tom Segura, Joe’s pretty cool but love the NY comics. Especially loved comics in the O&A days. Imagine what Patrice and the O&A crew would say about Schaub. And im a big MMA fan too. So as a comedy/podcast/mma fan you can’t get away from him. So yes I don’t mind sharing my dislike of the toolbag for those rational reasons here in this arena.

I'm all for artists trying new things and expanding their reach but to me everything about this felt off. First, the fits felt cartoon-ish but in a bad and cheesy way. Second and probably most important, comedians, in my opinion, are not supposed to try and be cooler than the audience. It's unnatural to the tenets of comedy and it's playing into celebrity and status. Comedy is about self deprecating and the ripping down of idols and stale modalities of thinking. Comedy ultimately is about being funny but underneath that it's about feeling connected and included and we see our similarities in there absurdity. This is just kinda buying into the cult of personality to me.
