WOW! Just what a wonderful video. You can tell just how much the dogs love you. You can tell the seasonal dogs, they are more mature, and are to be trusted without a leash, unlike the younger one who could take off and run wherever. I like this video a lot. It doesn't get better than just the basic things, it's the foundation which everything else is build upon. Keep it up. I want to see this channel grow. It has lots and lots of potential. I will share it with my wife and friends.

I totally agree... 8 dogs in the team is absolutly perfect if you have husky. But you have malamutes and then maybe 5-6 dogs are able to make the same work? They are much better for heavy loaded sledge. / Matti

As a lover of working dogs I would love a comparison of the husky vs the border collie. I see she has boots on dose she always need them?
@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA 2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting idea! This two different breeds are really different. Both with weak points and strong points. No, she doesn't need booties all the time but much more often than the huskies. /Matti

Steven here from the u.s. I have just started about 2 months ago, and have 6 dogs, I can get them all to pull with my lead dog. But I have 2 males that when I hook them up to go run together they fight. I have tried running them on two lines with my wife and they still just want to fight each other. They don't fight when they are off line just when I hook them up to go pulling.

Hello. That is not fun. I can really understand the frustration. I also remember all the different problems that I had since 1984 when I got my first husky. 1. You should never let them fight. But I think you always understand that. 2. Are they over excited? What breed is it? Some dogs that I have seen are over excited and scream and bite and jump etc. Is it like that...then you had to start working with calming them down. Learn them to make calm start. I will make videos about that this autumn. Back in old days we had an old type of greenlanddogs in Scandinavia. They were rough and hard. They was fighting because they just had a strong hierarchy. But then they usually was fighting all the time. Also in the kennel and everywhere. I think the first case is you're problem or? Until you have solved the problem you have to run them separately. Avoid all fighting. What happens if you put one in front and one in the back of the team? What happens if you have them in two different smaller team? If I get more info I will maybe be able to give some more advice. And you should always know that maybe one of the dogs should continue their journey to someone else. Or going back to the breeder. All big kennels get dogs that don't fit in to the group sometimes. Then it's our job to find a better home to that individ. We just had to understand that sometimes we are not the best for all this wonderful dogs. 😀 ...but first you are on the right track when you want to solve the problem. 😀 /Matti

One is a husky 2 years old and the other is a Sheppard Wolf mix. I got them both in the last year. There are a lot of dogs being rehomed in my area due to renters not allowing dogs over 10 pounds in the city's. The husky came from a home were he was the only dog and always in the back yard. The Sheppard hybrid came from a home were he was left out on a line all the time. Both dogs had never been worked. All they new was sit when bribed good enough. Have been working hard on obedience. Since I replied last the problem has moved from just on the line. When it started I was hooking them up had lead dog then Sheppard on the line and was hooking up the husky they started fighting got them apart. So I put a female husky, "she came with the sheepard" between them was able to run them to our first resting point, then the male Sheppard as soon as we stopped turned around and went back for him. Got them home and separates them on opposite sides of the property. The husky now sees the other dog now puffs up and starts growling. Have tried walking them together on line just get avoidance between them. Tried running them on separate lines and if the husky even sees the Sheppard refuses to go anywhere. Had all my dogs off line last week everything was good then the husky went for the Sheppard. They started fighting. my other dogs got involved went after the husky. Got them all put up now don't know what to do. 😟 seems to be escalating. I am thinking of rehoming the Sheppard hybrid because his tempermant has been the biggest problem. Best way to put it is mood swings with a very stubborn strong willed dog. All of my dogs have came from homes wear the dog was left alone all day and not worked. Beside 2 husky pups I got. I'm not sure what to do? Thank you, Steven

I totally understand how you are thinking. How many times haven't I been standing on the sled and thinking 'WTF...an I doing?!?!?!?' ...but if you look at some more videos. The once from our daily life you maybe get another idea about what we are doing. We can really see that the dogs love this longer trips. They actually prefer to.make something together with me where I sleep with them outside. Where we live together 24/7. And to the pulling thing. My responsibility is to look after them. I have to check so they are working because they want. Not because of some kind of stress. We have dogs that don't want our way of living and we always try to find a new and better home for the. They have individually needs and you have to see them both as a group/tribe/pak and as individs. Our work as dogowner/dogmusher is 2% adventure/wilderness and 98% dog care probably. 😀 I hope you can see what we are doing and I'm also sad when I see some of the kennels who work as 98% business and 2% dog care... 😞 Thanks for watching and I promise that we will do our best to give our dogs the best life they can have. 😀 /Matti
