To clarify. Oprah is from Arkansas, dolly is from Tennessee but instead from rural Pigeon Forge and your girl Tay Tay is from Pennsylvania. And the trick is that they soak it in hot sauce before they dredge it and potentially spice it again and then fry. I absolutely adore you! Not only do they soak the chicken in hot sauce, but you also take a couple spoonfuls of the hot fry oil, pour it over a pile of spices including a ton of cayenne, and then toss the fried chicken in the hot spice-oil mixture. Its why the nashville chicken is so deeply red.

Oprah is from Mississippi. Kosciusko to be precise. She moved to Nashville as a teenager to live with her father. From what I can tell by watching, the Brits got shortchanged there. That is NOT the crazy spicy Nashville hot chicken I know. @LordLOC
@LordLOC Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but try to remember they are in London/UK. They have to adapt foods to the area, I don't think most British people are going to be enjoying top level nashville hot chicken let alone something dunked in incredibly spicy oil and think "that looks good to eat" lol That being said, most of those chicken items just looked like they were "dusted" with seasonings or spices. I didn't see any oils or anything. So, I guess that might be "decent" enough nashville hot chicken in London, but for us here in the US, yeah no.

I live in TN and I can tell this isn’t Nashville hot because no one is crying in round one. With Nashville hot we get mild/medium and are sobbing. If you get hot your mouth gets numb. We don’t dare go past that in this household 😂 and I’m someone that can really handle spicy food and adore it. Edit: based on reactions- good luck is probably equivalent to American medium. But since they have British taste buds good luck is probably equivalent to our mild- which is the least spicy.😂

I have friends who grow Ghost Peppers, Carolina Reapers, and whatnot. Literally, no one can make food hot enough for them. I'll just look at them and say "I prefer the milder stuff, thank you." One can easily make food to spicy for me to like. Yet, I get peppers from them and put them into a huge pickle jar of various varieties of peppers, a few small green tomato quarters, and let the whole mess pickle for years. When I make chili, I get a couple of spoonful's of the sliced peppers and put it in a large slow-cooker with the rest of the chili. It's wonderful, but on occasion, it can be too hot for me. But I eat every bite anyway, because it's wonderful, LOL! --Dan

Party Fowl has a nice smoky flavor to it and their Poultrygeist level of heat has been known to bring grown men to tears. The dichotomy of British spice is strange. They're known for bland food and I dated a British girl who couldn't handle anything hotter than ketchup, but the hottest (and maybe best) curry I ever had in my life was in a British pub in Portsmouth that had nothing but Englanders in it. A "burger" is called that because it's made of ground beef (hamburger), not because it's on a bun. A chicken patty on what would otherwise be a hamburger bun is a chicken sandwich, not a chicken burger. A chicken burger is ground (minced) chicken on a bun.

Dolly Parton isn’t from Nashville either. She grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee in Sevier County. Dollywood is a theme park she owns in pigeon forge ( a city in sevier county), and you should visit! It’s a really neat place with fun rides. I went there just last week and tried to go on every ride, except the drop line ( I’m scared of heights). I go to the same Highschool that Dolly went to and she is honored here!

How did Britts go from controlling the global spice trade to 'oh I don't like spicy food'?
@patrickhannon4217

To Max's point I get why some people say "what's the point of spiciness, it just hurts" but there is a lot of flavour there once you get over the mountain of heat, but also, as hot head who loves spiciness on/in/with anything, it's a bit like alcohol, it can get addictive because of the adrenaline rush you get afterwards

As a Nashvillian who got to eat the hot chicken from Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, long before "Nashville Hot Chicken" became known world-wide, I thank you so much for including the history with Mr Prince. I think you're the first folks to give that credit where credit is due, and I thank you for that. I love the fact that even though Prince's chicken is so very hot, it's also still really delicious, too. Just beware, boys, it's hotter on the way out than it was on the way in, believe it or not. So glad to see a video on Nashville Hot Chicken done right! Love you guys, Josh, Ollie, Max, and nods to your cameraman & driver, too!
