I'd say Seaver in '69. He was the difference in getting them to a World Series, similar to but greater than what Willie McGee did for the Cardinals in 1985, when he won a Gold Glove and hit for the highest average of any NL player in 10 years. Willie McCovey's 1969 was the greatest season by a great player, but it was all bat with him and the Giants did not make the postseason (but they were in a strong division).

Don't know if Wright should have won in '07, but Rollins was a crazy pick to win considering the 1.000+ OPS seasons by Holliday and Fielder. To a certain degree I feel bad for Lindor. He has been under appreciated ever since becoming a Met despite fully living up to his contract and being one of the best all-around shortstops in the game. It’s in part *because* of the White Sox. They’re so bad they’re pushing the Tigers above .500, and the fall of the AL West further accentuates the division’s internal improvement. Going forward I expect the Guardians to resume their rule, especially when they get their pitching pipeline back in to wack. The Royals will likely bounce back down, the Twins will continue to be bridesmaids and the Tigers…well I’m not crazy enough to try to pretend to guess where they are right now in their cycle.

Wild that if Voting in 1985 was what it is the last 15 yrs it likely goes to either Carter or Gooden. Keith had more RBIs than Sandberg and just a few HRs less while playing an All-World 1st base. Damn even Straw in 88 had superior numbers to Gibson; Dodger really stuck it to the Mets in 88 for sure. Looks like the case for 2024 with Otani getting that 50/50 season as a DH over Lindor who plays everyday likely heading for 30/30 while playing Gold Glove defense at SS and playing everyday. Also convinced if the WC existed Mets not only would've made the playoffs a few more times but would've made another WS run in one of those years. 2005 was a Braden Looper and off-Beltran season from making the playoffs. And lastly, 2021 deGrom before he got injured was not only going to win a 3rd CY Young but would've gotten some MVP votes with the way he was hitting as well.

I know team success isn’t anything so you can breakdown high leverage situations..Lindor clears or you know the fact one guy is gonna win a platinum glove and the other guy chews sunflower seeds in the dugout in comparison. This logic is so dumb because that means it’s okay to give the MVP to players who provide negative defensive value but because they play the field they get a pass. Let’s not pretend defense has ever truly mattered in these conversations about MVP. When you look at NL MVPS this century all of those players have a 900 OPS or better except for one Jimmy Rollins who had an 875 OPS for a season. The MVP is an award centered around offense sans a pitcher getting a triple crown. Also Ohtani isn’t a normal DH. A normal DH doesn’t get you nearly 50 stolen bases, home runs, and over a 100 RBIs while leading his lead in every offense category both in terms of counting stats and advanced stats. If Mookie never got hurt this probably never would’ve happened but it did and you can’t say Ohtani hasn’t been valuable. To say he should not even be considered just because he’s a DH is honestly just sour grapes and is ignoring the season he’s put together. The Dodgers have had more players on the IL than any team in baseball and yet they have been able to stay atop of the NL West precisely because of Ohtani has played nearly every game for them and has given the lineup a power speed element that they desperately needed. I’m not saying there’s not an argument for Lindor but to say he clearly deserves it over Ohtani is disingenuous.

Do those uniforms speak for themselves? Because I feel like I need a video explaining those uniforms.

Bro when you were talking about piazza and it brought up Chris hoiles. I’m like I’ve never heard of him and he did it in the 90s so I look up his baseball reference and he has a career 833 ops wtf no all stars no nothing real solid ball player I’ve never heard of

what I got from this video is 3 things. 1. MLB hates the Mets 2.The Mets should have 5 or more MVP winners 3. If Lindor doesn't win it, we all know why & it won't because of the numbers either, #LFGM #STOPHATINGONSMILES

Albert Pujols should have won that MVP over Howard in '06.
