So you’re saying that Half-life is technically not future proof since it screws up physics objects?
@toxic_shr00m2 жыл бұрын
@@Dr.Oofers I think I meant to say it's intended to run at ~30 fps but since computers are way better now, 60 is basically the minimum. Because Half-Life's physics are dependent on literal frame data, the faster frame rates screw up how fast it actually runs.

The assassin on the tram car at 15:13 is acting like an idiot because the map was not noded. NPCs in Half-Life need a navmesh made from info_node entities in order to be able to navigate the level properly. If the map has no nodes, NPCs fall back to a trace line system where they can only navigate to places where they can route a trace line to from their current position. This works mostly fine in large open flat areas, but when you have obstacles and complex geometry, it falls apart. Flying NPCs like Alien Controllers, apaches and ospreys need a different info_node_air entity in order to work. Alien Controllers can generally get around without nodes, but the latter two will not function at all without nodes and just fly to the top of the level. To the assassin on the tram car, it may as well be an island in a bottomless pit, he can't find a route off of it. It explains why when he drops the grenade that he doesn't run, because he can't route a path anywhere. It's also why the other assassins don't run to your position, they know you're there because they can hear you, but they can't route a path. If this map were noded properly, you'd have been bumrushed by all of them in the immediate area once you got out of the water.
