Jollywood Nights Opening Evening Jitters in Hollywood Studios | Walt Disney World

We were so looking forward to this first ever Christmas hard-ticketed event in Hollywood Studios....Jollywood Nights. Despite the rain, the four of us showed up to watch the shows, meet some specialty characters, and try all the specialty food and drinks. Some of it was fantastic, but some of it was....well....less than... Enjoy!

Disney oversells all ticketed events now. It is sad to me because I remember with great fondness that many if not most attractions were walk-ons after about 9PM at ticketed events not so long ago.

That’s gotta be so frustrating to fork out over $600 of your hard earned cash for a family of four and have the experience you had. I’d be so disappointed and maybe even a bit mad. Thank you for filming and sharing! Appreciate you taking one for us!

That is expensive for a family, but since its advertised as more of a date night I wouldn’t bother bringing kids. Disney catering to couples started in the early 1960s with Disney Date Night in Disneyland, and I see this as part of that tradition. Interestingly, the price of a ticket then also was about the same as regular park admission, and even started about the same time.

Maybe it's me, but I felt our MNSSHP was very over sold too. Lines were long and it was a crowded mess. Not like the pre-pandemic parties

So we went to the wine and dine run Disney party on Sunday November 5 in Epcot It was our first party. We were able to get in at 5:00 and party started at 10. I have never seen Epcot so crowded. IThere was a ridiculous line to get a pin which I wanted. There were only 250 pins available and people could get two. A complete waste of time in a line. Drink and food lines were super long too. They’re has to be a better system. I feel like there is not a lot of value in the parties

I think the ride time in a park where on regular days even with genie plus are low is a huge benefit to non AP however i was Leary and stuck to my gut and we re doing MVMCP this year. No FOMO after all the videos from 1st night but maybe they ll May adjustments and the none sold out nights will be better. Thanks for another honest video you all looked great!

It seemed to me that y’all did a better job navigating the event than many others…. & overall I always enjoy your perspective on things. I think because you haven’t lived there for many years already, your perspective is more relatable to travelers. I hope they work out the kinks, because I am planning a Holiday trip for next year. I suspect part of the issue was the event was heavily filled with locals who put a much higher value on the exclusive things (not the rides). It still seems like a good value (very similar to the Magic Kingdom event)…. 2 Exclusive shows, 2 limited capacity entertainment areas, other street entertainment areas, extra characters & fireworks. I probably needs to be an hour longer & they have to staff to serve the food & Drinks more quickly… seeing as how that hurts their earnings, I think they will improve that

Thanks so much! We love Beth, she’s amazing. So, it actually doesn’t make a ton of sense to book domestic flights through a travel agent in today’s travel industry bc of all the changes, delays, and cancellations that occur with airlines. It makes it much more complicated for the client because it’s much harder to be flexible on the date of travel since the airline would want to communicate only with the TA and not the client directly. We highly recommend booking flight direct with airlines for this reason.

As a lifelong Floridian, going to the parks since the 70's, Walt would be so ashamed. There is no Disney magic anymore.

I’ve been going to the parks since the 1960s, albiet I was under 10 in that decade, and at least in my opinion people just have short memories. The opening day of Disneyland got very bad reviews with the same compaints: too expensive, too crowded, the lines were too long. The subsequent Jollywood Nights have had much better reviews without many tweaks, and its likely the problems on opening night were caused by a huge percentage of attendees being enfluencers or wanna-be enfluencers trying to get content rather than riding rides. Mickey’s Very Merry is 40 years old now, and the opening of this new hard-ticket event came right at the peak of Disney social media coverage all looking for fresh content more exciting than covering the addition of a new kind of cookie.

Ahh, you did a great review. But I am nervous for our trip now. We got special clothes, too! You guys looked so cute. 😍 I hope they revamp it a bit before our trip. Wonder if the special food will be out during the day? We are booked for HS all day and for the party as well. That would for sure save us some food drama. Thanks guys.

Please don't feel you guys need to be apologists for Disney. It would be nearly $900 for my family of 4 for this event. That's crazy for something that's still pay to play once you're inside and even then it includes a ridiculous line. I'd much rather put that money towards a nice Signature dining experience or a Deluxe resort stay.

As soon as you said you chose this INSTEAD of MVMCP, my heart broke for you guys. I've been hearing terrible reviews of Jollywood. At least at MVMCP they offer free cookies/cocoa & lines aren't crazy long. They need to do better!

Way too much money to stand in line to watch 2 shows and spend money on food that wasn’t even your first choice🤷🏻‍♀️ I would much rather just enjoy Hollywood Studios on a regular day, especially if I was an annual pass holder. And then it rains🤦🏻‍♀️

I wonder if Disney sold more tickets to this event due to all the influencers and online media personalities coming to the event. Maybe they needed to cover the cost of the Disney employees that were handlers for some of the influencers. It makes sense to not attend the first night of any special ticketed event. Disney needs to go back to treating paying customers as guests. Universal Studios is going to pass Disney parks up once Epic Universes opens.

First night of any new event is always busy. But influencers or not, capacity is capacity and Disney has to staff appropriately for a sold out event. Will be interesting to see what happens when Epic opens
