Jon is amazing but this is just not true. Look into the Melodica Men, Daren Banarsë from melodica world, Ena Yoshida, Masa Matsuda, and Pianica Magician (ピアニカの魔術師).

The type of mouthpiece you're talking about hardly makes any difference in playing, and is typically very short/discreet anyway. Sorry I realise now I wasn't clear.

@@GoaWay4Sanity : I think he had the metal tray hydro-dipped or wrapped in vinyl. The stock Pro-37 has a black vinyl leather-like finish. Maybe I'll do that to one of my Melodions too. Not to mention the sound gear attached to it--it looks like a jerry-rigged wireless saxophone mic taped to it. Looks clunky, but it works.

If you look at the underside of the melodica, there's a big thing taped on to it. My guess is that the melodica is mic'ed up, and that device is sending the signal wirelessly to a mixing board somewhere. EDIT: Actually, the mic is right above the keyboard, right where his supporting hand is. If it sounds digital, it most likely is because of how the microphone is picking it up.
