Everyone's going off on Jon like the question was "do YOU give him a pass?" (which he said it would be wrong to give him a pass). The question was did HOLLYWOOD give Polanski a pass. When Jon refers to it being a "different time", he's not implying that because it was a different time, he should get a pass. He's referring to Hollywood (which is the whole point of the fucking question) as a whole, giving him a pass when the incident occurred because not many people spoke out against influential people during that time. So people (Hollywood)(as in, ya know, not Jon) might have given him a pass for that reason. Unlike today's predators being exposed, it was a DIFFERENT TIME. Also, nowhere does he say that Polanski's personal tragedies make it okay to do what he did. But his tragedies may have made Hollywood (again, not Jon) take it easier on him as opposed to others. He could have been a bit more emphatic about not giving him a pass, but he clearly says he doesn't. Fuck, people, listen before criticizing the dude.

I agree! He's cool and refreshing. I really like him, but at that moment he was really looking out for his career and threw morality right out the window. Jon had no problem throwing Spacey under the bus. Kevin Spacey is done, he has no bearing on Jon's career. Polanski, on the other hand, is still a prominent figure in the film industry, but Polanski sexually assaulted a minor just like Spacey did! But, Jon switched up his tune when talking about Polanski. I understand he doesn't want to put his foot in his mouth and prevent himself from getting work, but come on.

As a fan of him from what I've seen, mainly the punisher tbh I'm glad it seems he would think differently about working with Polanski now. Yeah yeah, his victim now forgives him, but the guy drugged and raped a 13 year old girl when she was also saying no, crazy people just seemed to forget that, and he didn't even face justice for his crime, he fled and then made out it wasn't a big deal what he did. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of ppl who would want a person dead if they raped their 13 year old daughter. Can you imagine in 30 years time giving R Kelly a standing ovation for winning a Grammy for a new album, or applauding Harvey Weinstein for creating a new successful movie studio that produces more Oscar winning movies

James Connolly OI moron, allegations are exactly that, allegations. we live in a society of innocent until proven guilty. Kubrick could collaborate. He asked Malcolm McDowel if he knew any songs after realising the home-invasion scene was missing something. He also gave R. Lee Ermy a license to say whatever the fuck he wanted. He wasn't known for his collaboration such much as his absurdly brutal methods, though. Doing so many takes that it literally drove people to tears, emotionally abusing Shelly Duvall to induce genuine hysteria on camera, wilfully nearly blinding Malcolm McDowel for a pick-up shot, foot-down DEMANDING an accurately coloured table in a black and white film. The guy was a nut. Talented and intelligent but a fucking nut.
