WE'RE BAAACKKK!!!!!!! It's been a while since we've posted a video. Thanks to everyone who checked in on us to make sure that we were ok. Glad to be back. Had to take some time to finish the boat and meet my deadline. So now it's all about showing you everything that was done. This jon boat to bass boat conversion turned out awesome. This will be the best Alumacraft 1232 in the DMV :). I'll be putting vids out showing you exactly what I did and how I did it. This video is all about jon boat electrical wiring. This will be a complete mini series in and of itself so sit back relax and enjoy the ride.

I’ve found on aluminium that I needed to do an etch prime first, give it 30mins to dry, then enamel top coat ( I use a quick dry ). Great video 🇦🇺

I believe you may have used a urethane paint? I had the same issue once and learned that there is a "window" for painting subsequent coats. Once the paint begins to cure (not talking about drying) it off gasses and causes that wrinkling with a fresh coat. One had to recoat within the window of time or wait a week or so until curing is finished. If you can smell the paint, it is not cured.

The spackling in paint job is from too much dirt &oils from handling & then trying 2nd coating b4 curing completely. Set you up heat lamp for all your parts to be painted, needs to be above 70+degrees for paint to cure right. Then b4 2nd coat damp wipe area after handling with a lite Mineral Spirit damped rag to remove any dirt or contaminates.. Looking 👍

Which kit for the aluminum did you order from tbnation?

So I went to school for collision repair and was an automotive painter for close to 4 years. And what caused that in the paint is you did not allow the first coat enough time to full cure so it was still releasing chemicals when you sprayed the second coat and it’s called chicken feet. At that point you would have to take it back down to bare metal and respray it. Also, when painting bare aluminum you should use etching wipes which will help the paint stick to bare aluminum.

How do you find out what amp ATO fuse to use for your fuse box. I'm so new to this but I'm running the same 14 awg as will .

As a general rule of thumb, led lights work well with 5 Amp fuses. Everything else I would follow manufacturer recommended amps.

If there are no high value electronics hooked like like a fish finder, do you think the main breaker is necessary straight off the battery?

Yes. The main thing I'm protecting are my fish finders. But it dies feel good to protect everything

Question!!! On my neg bus bar? Can I go from battery to bus bar that hooked to wood or does it need to be hooked to the aluminum on seat panel!!!????

Don't make your boat grounded. It will have an electrolysis with the water and eat away the aluminum until it literally melts.

Curious where you got the master power switch and the fuse/bus bar combo? Also, I'm basically replicating this build on my Lowe 1232. What did you use for the top deck material? Thickness of Aluminum? Been dying to see the final product but I'm trying to get my boat ready for a Memorial Day Weekend Tournament!

I started with the 6 circuit but you'll see in my later video I upgraded to the 12 circuit to avoid doubling up on my fuses. I'm also going to upgrade my boat to the 12 circuit as well. For the decking I used 1/16th aluminum sheeting. This will keep the weight down on a small jon like the 1232 which is important. They key is to not have too big of gaps supporting the decking since its thinner and light weight. You may feel some soft spots depending on how you do it. I'll be posting my next video on Wednesday and will try to get more coming faster.

Really just using a regular trolling motor for now but will eventually add a bow mount trolling motor. Planning on running 2 batteries on the boat so I’ll need to research a bit the proper electrical hook up for that. These videos are awesome! Keep it up!

If youll keep a spray can of battery corrosion grease spray on all your pos. post & pos. wire ends. It'll keep any moisture from ruining all your connections. Save you major headaches in future..

Wiring is easy, someone please explain relays, resistors, breakers, battery type? Like I just learned the agm/deep cycle does not work for leds. Will have to try my lithium battery. Only if these videos showed useful info

Nice clean look, with you were a Okie., Im too fat, old & disabled. Could use some extra hands, Ive spent over $2000 buying all new marine grade wire, connectors, batteries, FUSE TERM., ACS SWITCH, MASTER SWITCHES, ETC. All being complete re wire on a 2000Basscat Pantera. Redid, trollingmotor batteries & cables they actually had tied together with a lil piece 12ga wire witch had all melted together & ruined my T.M., I just purchased this boat that was suppose to be lake & tourn. 🤬 Needless to say, this boat only been on water for bout 30min total in past 7mths. Its become 1 headache after another. So we're gutting & starting from scratch. My son & I just got done building him a bassboat out of Johnboat. Highly recommend installing a house battery with crank battery useing 3way master & ACS switch..Great wire lay out, very clean. Watch out for any sharp edges, pitch points, etc..Good Luck👍

I would add a front trolling motor battery separate and then a smaller battery (maybe dakota lithium) to power fish finder and leds. Running the fish finder on the trolling motor battery can create unwanted returns on the fish finder.

I agree that's ideal. But weight is an issue so decided to try this out and see how it goes. Lithium might be in order to make it happen but it's not my boat and not my wallet either lol.

I’m sure u already have the answer 🎉! But that contamination on your panel!!! Or what they call crows feet?!! Let it dry and sand all that off !! Smooth!!! Then before you ever paint anything you always whip it down with the best rubbing alcohol u can buy!! And when your painting stuff never spray wd40 or anything like that on blast that’s a no no!!! And if u want to really be sure wipe it down let completely dry use a tack rag for dirt then put cheap ass rubber gloves like doctor’s wear!!! Just in case you got hamburger juices on your hand after lunch😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤… luv the video tho more than what my needs are but understand!!!

@@thebowtiefisherman5718 there are two that I use. Both Rustoleum. Rustoleum High Performance Enamel and another one that is for all surfaces. I forget the name but I used it on the lowe 1448 build.
