You really should rivet the braces to the ribs. Pu t a piece or rubber tubing over the drill to keep it from going to deep.

rtfabian. You're right. I actually ended up riveting the braces down later and it made the structure more solid. Thanks for the tip. The rubber tubing is also a great idea instead of free handling it. 👍🏾💯

in the livewell, is there a thru-hull there directly under your center seat? i am fixing a polar kraft and trying to find replacement thru-hull that is strong but will not lead to electrolysis. any info would be helpful. thanks!

Yes there is. It's factory made so I don't know much about it besides that it's made out of rubber.

I know I’m late but I’m ready to work on a build now. Only thing holding me up is a drain plug. I bought the boat for $200.(fixed leaks and painted it) It’s a older model and didn’t come with a drain. so I don’t know if all this will work without a place for water to drain. Any advice? My main question is why go through all that with the front deck if your going to cover it with a casting deck? I didn’t plan on doing that but will if it’s necessary?

The subfloor is good to have for supporting you batteries and whatever you will be storing in your hatches. It also looks better. Not a necessity but good to have.

Unfortunately there's nor allot of places to fish for walleye in the DMV. You may want to try Loch Raven reservoir.

what thickness of aluminum did you use for the sides and subfloor

I used .090 for the sub floor and some of the side walls. I would go lighter next time. Probably .063 to save on weight.

What size thickness is that aluminum sheeting?

I used .019, 0.25 and .090. The thickness all depends on the application. .019 was used for extremely light applications where I just needed to cover something up .025 I used for side panels for my hatch and rod locker .090 was used as sub flooring

Why size screw did you use on the ribs to avoid coming out to f the bottom?

I used Teks 1 - 7/16 self drilling wood to metal screws. Sold al Home Depot. It worked perfectly with 1/2" plywood. Keep in mind your carpet thickness as well. Every inch matters.
