I know this comment is extra late, lol, but he would probably be the George Martin if there was gonna be a Beatles comparison. George was responsible for a lot of the symphonic and orchestral elements on The Beatles albums. But you’re right ! Very close to their sound for our time!

Love Jon.B. ! I'm after some advice if anyone out there can help please? I really like the score/s John Brion has made for Punch Drunk Love and in particular how he makes the music sound like it was recorded in mono or something in the 1950's! Now, I'm very new to digital music making but am trying to make a score for a short film. Is there anyone who's familiar in the area, know what effects I'd use, or how I'd go about making my score have that great, 1950's, mono recorded sound? Thanks :-)

Love this guys music! I was pleasantly surprised with his answer to the kanye west question. He critiques hip hop in such an honest and specific way as opposed these haters just coming out and saying "its not music" or dumb shit to the effect. Despite being a continuing collaborator with kanye he didnt by any means kiss his ass. Very eloquent.

My intro to Jon... I'm not that hip, but I'll be damned if this did not turn my head. This is pretty sophisticated illustrating his range. OST version of his composition "Little Person". As an aside, a pretty amazing movie as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3LCppWejsydd8U

No he didn't. He helped keane 2-3 days with the record in Paris. He helped them especially with You haven't told me anything and persuade them that it's not wrong to do something different with this new album. Keane produced the album themselves, so non2002 is right..

Obviously the answer is yes. However, I wouldn't wish anyone to be forced out of their religion. I think it is important to slowly erode its choke hold on the world the way racism has been eroded in America.

Actually, I think these were short answers for Jon Brion, lol. Of course, in my own opinion, JB is infinitely more interesting than Keane.
@VarialProductions14 жыл бұрын
Does it not trouble you that someone as artistic and thoughtful as Jon could think that way? To be honest, his answer was extremely courteous to theists. With the amount of bigotry, destructive, intellectual and artistic stultification, and war all in the name of a few competing "magic" books one would think people like you would have the decency to accept Jon's MILD and overwhelmingly gentle interpretation of whatever cult it is you belong to. There.

I love this man's work, especially his film scores with Kaufman. However, I don't like his comment on religion. It's very pretentious and belittling, boasting a "superior" atheistic intelligence (which in fact is quite nebulous) over anyone who follows a religion or has faith in a God(s).
@VarialProductions14 жыл бұрын
no contradiction.. perhaps rejections.. no not perhaps.. rejection was the wrong word. atheism is just a lack of belief in god or theism. so babies are atheists implicitly as they have not reasoned a god or religion into existence. and i don't really hate anyone for their beliefs. i don't think hate is anything other than a psychological egotistical chemical reaction in the brain. I maintain that religion is blatantly false and demonstrably corrosive to humanity.
@acrovader15 жыл бұрын
Jon's music is great, but his philosophy of religion is incomprehensible.
@yrureadingthisname14 жыл бұрын
Want to know what cult I believe in? It's called atheism. That's what troubles me; this atheist superiority complex in which one feels they are above anyone who believes in religion, when in fact atheism is still a belief system just like all the rest. To say that someone is "limited" and can't handle "not knowing" because they believe in something just doesn't fly with me. I mean, your comment in a way proved my point exactly.

lol how is that even corporate of him? if anything it's anti-corporate. the guy is just stating his opinion. he might not always be right or say what he wants to say in the right way, but at least he's standing up for what he thinks. the whole beyonce thing wasn't even about race. idk why you're even bringing that into this.. he just felt like she deserved over taylor swifts video. and hip hop has always been based around sampling other peoples music. he's not stealing if he's actually paying to get those samples cleared from it's original artists. believe or not, it actually takes a certain amount of talent to be able to flip samples and bring it into a new light. kanye has always been good with meshing songs together and bringing something new to it. have you ever even listened to a kanye album before? you seem like a person thats quick to judge without even doing your research and you're judging him based off of events that happened years ago
@bandawhat339 жыл бұрын
***** yeah u got nothing. does kanye west play an instrument? NO. Does he sing? NO. Does he make his own music. No. so where is the talent?
