DAMN! You got there first. But, you're 100% right. Culshaw is absolutely amazing. I remember my brother, who knew I was a Doctor Who fan, got me to listen to a radio show called "Dead Ringers" which famously had Culshaw doing his unnervingly accurate recreations of Tom Baker's 4th Doctor. Hearing McCoy saying "Are you feeling alright" to this guy who's called him up out of the blue IS A all time classic. When it turns out it was CROSS WORD answer? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Jacob Dudman does an incredible impression of the 10th, 11th and 12th. "Regeneration Impossible" is a stunning example of how gifted he is. And Michael Troghton does his Dad, Patrick, so well in "Beyond the War Games" that you forget it's not a story made after he passed away. We as Doctor Who fans are now blessed. We can now have adventures with any of the Doctors. Splendid chaps - all of them. Even the lady one. David

Jon really proves himself a powerful actor by his attention to detail. His acting goes so much further than just a voice mimic such as Rich Little (not taking anything away from Mr. Little), but you can see Jon is an actor in every sense of the word. It was a pleasure seeing him work! Thank you.

If there is one man in the World who can bring all of these beloved actors / characters back to us who are so sadly gone, it's this man. I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of listening to a more remarkable impressionist than the legend that is Jon Culshaw.

It was really neat to hear (and see the faces he made in impersonations). Never quite realized how Delgado's deliveries were so much more expressive, while Ainley indeed sounded like he spoke out of one side. Love them both regardless :D A neat glimpse into this side of the who universe stories!

Jon is one of my favourite impersonators of all time and the enjoyment he has given to us Whovians is immeasurable and like a brilliant magician, there always appears to be a new trick up his sleeve, like the other week when I heard his Anthony Ainley Master. Wow! He’s like Peter Serafinowicz who has a particular timbre to his voice that suits so many characterisations. I know Jon mentions the beauty of Terrance Dick’s writing, but I wonder if he could do an impersonation of the great man himself! I’m sure he could!😁👍🏻

Just listened to Dead Ringers' latest episode today and Jon, Jan & Co. are as sharp as ever. I remain genuinely baffled as to why Jon - who did more than most to keep Doctor Who alive in the British public's consciousness during the wilderness years off air - has yet to appear on the show since it came back. I know he's said that he really, really wants to play the Doctor himself, so maybe he's been approached for a guest appearance and has declined for that reason? I dunno, but it didn't seem to harm Colin Baker and Peter Capaldi's chances 🤷. I know everyone's kind of sick of the multiverse thing at this point (although Doctor Who was doing it in live action a lot earlier than Marvel or DC), but maybe at some point in the next few years they could do a multiversal, multi - Doctor story where Jon and some of the other actors who've expressed interest in playing the part, like John Noble, Adrian Lester etc. could turn up for an episode or two and give us their take on the Doc. "The Too Many Doctors", perhaps?

@AudioSirens
@AudioSirens Жыл бұрын
What core concept are you referring to? And did you really just say that NOT recasting Doctor Who is the reason the show has lasted this long? Recasting is so essential to the show it was actually written in to it's mythology. I do know what you are trying to say though, you don't agree with recasting an already exisiting incarnation. What I still don't know is....why? Surely, the core concept is and always has been good stories. The cast is important but without the stories there is nothing. Same is true for a recast Doctor Who. If you go in convinced you are going to hate it because of some kind of loyalty to actors long passed... well of course you're going to hate it.... but if you go in with your number one priority being a hope for a good story and a positive view on nostalgia, then you might be surprised at how good they are.

I remember when Doctor Who was Susan Foreman's Grandfather. He was like a magical Englishman solving mystery and troubles with compassion and cleverness, a Gentleman scientist. How did it turn into "this alien can be a woman amd started out as a woman" and that's a literal insult *to the masculine* example that The Doctor represents. An insult to the majority male audience and nobody says a thing about it.

Bore off, Patrick Troughton’s Doctor a “gentleman scientist”? 😂 There are interviews from the 80s with both him and Tom Baker warmly open to and hypothesising the possibility of a non-male Doctor. There is zero limitation to what the character can be and represents and that is the magic of this entire program.
