I was very fortunate to see Jon perform an incredible solo, which lasted at least 20 minutes at a drum clinic in Birmingham, UK around 1980. At one point he performed a long roll (mommy daddy) on the snare and double bass drums. At the start his sticks were going as fast as he could make them on the snare, whilst his bass drums were very, very slow. He gradually (over about 30 seconds) slowly increased the speed of the bass drums whilst at the same time, reduced at the speed of the snare. At the mid-way point, his hands and feet were all the same speed. He then continued to slow down the snare and quickened up the bass drums At the end, his bass drums were going very fast and his snare very slowly as he swans hir ight arm left to right to hit the snare twice and then again with his left hand. It was as though his body was cut in two to be able to perform what he did. A true drumming legend and along with Buddy Rich, I consider myself very fortunate to have seen both play live. RIP Jon.

OK - ready to take the heat here -- but not a fan at all. No rhythm changes to speak of. Syncopation,, etc. Give me someone like Keith Carlock.. Haha - still amazing skill though so don't hate on me too much.
