What an incredible coincidence, just yesterday night I was listening to Dawn Chorus by Thom Yorke in repeat, I was feeling really sad for many reasons and listening to that piece of music made me feel understood, but even more depressed at the same time. I thought that things seemed to be impossible to resolve, but actually today I proved that bad perception wrong. Today after a long discussion many of the issues were solved and precisely a cover of the same piece I was listening hopeless the day before came out, so hearing the same chords progression played on the piano with all these calming atmospheres makes me think about how things can always change in a positive way, it contemporary reminds me about how badly I was feeling before fixing the issue with its musical aspect and describes how I feel now trough its much more colorful timbers. Thank you Jon.

Fucking beautiful post, totally encapsulates why music is so precious. It's not concrete, it's a vehicle that takes us for a journey through the terrain of our own mind. Love this comment, thanks for sharing.

You’re not alone. And I’m not, as well. People like us... we live for our music. Through our music. Sustained by our music. A few months ago, I was... “into the storm”. So many changes, TOO MANY for my tired and scarred soul. I started a new relationship. A new woman, I knew she wasn’t exactly one of “my kind”, but decided to try, anyway. One night, after a tough discussion, with a bitter smile upon my face, tapping my finger on the lcd screen in my car, while MY MUSIC was playing in background, I told her: “No chance, baby. It’s not your fault. As I used to tell You, . And now I know: WE ARE NOT THE SAME MUSIC...” The soundtrack was Thom’s “Anima” album. End credits

I'm not a professional musician and don't know how to play any instruments. All I know is your music feeds my soul and it has helped pull me through some of my darkest days and given me strength. My favourite track will always be Immunity but this one is beautiful. It's my birthday tomorrow and seeing a new track on your channel today is the best gift ever. 2020 has been really tough for many people and Dawn Chorus is just what we need. Thank you Jon Hopkins.

Was sooo lucky to see you at Sydney Opera House at the beginning of this year. It's crazy how this whole year has come together, the day before seeing you in January, I had to make the difficult decision to put my childhood cat to sleep. It was the right decision to be made, it hurt me deep down. Being able to see you then next day filled my entire being with all kinds of overwhelming emotions. Especially the 15 minute piano intro to your set. A truly magical one, and hands down the best live act I have seen in my life.

I miss her a lot. I'll finish watching when my mind is easier. EDIT: I appreciate the well wishes, we tend to relate certain meanings or experiences to certain mediums, and it can be difficult to experience these various media once that mental string has been connected. Dawn Chorus is a beautiful song that helped me wrap up a beautiful chapter of my life, but listening to it now is to relive the pain of the severance entirely. I am fine, and this song, in part, is responsible.

Can relate to some aspect, Thom's version kept me on that state for a specific period and that's pretty much the magic of music. It works like photography, it is like it captures the emotions at that time and bring them on/reappear every time you get exposed to those notes. And every time in a different way, some notes progress on the extent of the feelings, well others sound the same as it was back then. It will be okay.. as long we have music we love, we will never be alone

I love how this song, not only made me feel very sad, but comforted at the same time, but also so many other people. Nostalgia is especially what I feel when listening to this, cause this song was popular during the liminal space and backrooms trend about 1 year ago. For someone else it might be comfort, because of the soothing piano and the sweet melody. This truly is a masterpiece of a song, and I'm glad I found it
