I always thought jones beat rayes just due to him not hitting Jones when he was coming forward against him in the beginning rounds and then the takedowns in the 4th and 5th are what secured the win for me

I agree, it was his closest fight, but they aren’t going to give the belt to Reyes for scoring more points in the first two rounds, even if he did really well. Jones was still the aggressor aside from his evasions when Reyes would throw his chasing combos. He had Reyes on his heels and Reyes did really well, but it just was a flat out win by Jones in my book. Reyes is a monster though no fucking doubt.

Jon barely trained for the first Gustafsson fight and he still ended up winning, I remember people were saying that was a close fight and maybe gus won but the rematch shut up properly, there were no holes in Jon's game, he whooped Gus ass untouched. He is really scary when you rematch him.

The rematch didn't mean shit to be honest. Not to mention that Jones injured Gus via illegal groin shot, then the eye poke and the illegal shots to the back of the head. How many years passed since the first fight? A fucking lot! They should have had the rematch right away but Jones didn't want it, UFC didn't want it either. They knew Gus was a problem. Oh, then you throw in the steroids as well! He got popped and UFC moved everything so Jon could compete, paid USADA some money to close the eyes and that was it. Oh, how about that he was on steroids + coke on the first fight? Yeah.. and 'he didn't train'. Get out of here, weak excuses. It's like Tito vs Ortiz 3, at that point it didn't matter anymore.
