Really cool, futuristic page designs, play of light and darkness makes each panel rise from its' 2D world. Brilliant artwork from a brilliant mind. What a treasure!!!

Hello, thank you for commenting on the video. In this comic, there is a lot of setup and background on who the players are even though to start you are essentially dealing with two warring factions with one faction controlling it from the background. I believe Jon will get more into the story with volume 2. Godlike is a thinking man's comic.

The sad part is John wouldn't even talk about his book up much when it came out because Ethan told him to talk up Liams book instead. To actually fall in line and obey such orders instead of talking about your new book that took supposedly a year of your life is honestly what makes Jon #thebiggestcuckofall

Looks boring. 😐 This is not sequential art, it's lazy pin-up art. Little to no backgrounds, these characters float in air. Dude creates something he doesn't even like drawing. More word balloons than actual sequential art.

Thank you for commenting on the video. I saw that you made several comments so I will address all of them here. In terms of the sequential art, this is relative to your taste in comic book art. A story is being told sequentially here. However, I am not convinced this would have been better as a novel than a comic book as stated in your other comment.

@AcadianComics if someone presents a " movie" as a bunch of still frames...is it a movie or slideshow? Just because it's on a screen does not make it a movie. 😑 Same with this Godlike. It's not sequential art, it's majority just pin-up art.

@@rockon8174 I see your point and I get your critique. Does Godlike meet the criteria for what Will Eisner coined as "sequential art?" I believe it does. Some people may not like how Jon has executed each panel, but I think it is stretch to say it is not sequential art. Have you read Godlike to see the whole book? I just showed a few pages in my review out of respect for the comic creator and to not spoil the entire book.

9:15 again! Pure laziness!!!! This is boring characters just standing!!!! No expressions! Just excessive word balloons!!! Dude should've just wrote a novel! Would've been 7.99 instead of this overpriced hack job.

Clearly your understanding of Dune is movie based only. I appreciate you're pleased with your culture war totem, but as a comic book it's a failure on every level. The writing & plotting is abysmal. Malin failed to get the ideas in his head out on to the written page so you end up with a garbled mess. The character designs are extremely generic & the artwork is poor. That is unless you want stiff, bland Marc Silvestri style with no backgrounds in your comics? It's pretty painful as Malin's talked a good game for a long time. Hey Jon, go read Kirby's New Gods & Geoff Johns Green Lantern (with Ethan & Shane) to see how it's done.

Thank you for the comment. I agree with you that the opening pages of Godlike are like the prologue of 1984 movie version of Dune. I have also read Dune and I own a Chilton 1965 copy of Dune. As for the art in the book, it is properly executed, everything is in proportion and in perspective, then we get down to comic book art style and a reader's preference. Some may not prefer his line art style or how his characters are rendered. What we cannot do is say he does not have talent and skill in his art. An individual's preference for art style is the same is if someone prefers chocolate over vanilla ice cream. Taste and preference subjective, not objective. In the end, I can relate to what you are saying. Sometimes I cannot get into a book because of the art style. Even if it is properly executed and I am not seeing any proportion/perspective issues. Sometimes it comes down to taste and what an individual likes and dislikes. And that is okay.
