From a 56 year old UK pseudo cowboy and occasional songwriter. Such a remarkable and unique song. Clare, the love of my life - damn that girl can fly. 30+years of loving you and now I can finally understand why you walked away. It ain't always the cowboy that rides away. It don't stop it hurting less, but it helps me understand. Just fly, your beautiful, tumbleweed heart. I concede. You never new me as Panda and now you never will. No matter, it ain't always the cowboy that rides away........ xxx

I went to junior college with this guy in Northern California. One day in class he busted out a guitar and sang George Straight. The whole class was in awe and even a few girls were crying. He said “I’m going to Nashville to be a country singer” . And looks like he made it. Congratulations

I just turned 63 and have been listening to country since the 70's! I miss hearing songs like "rose colored glasses" and Merle Haggard songs. They never play music by Alabama anymore, or Reba and Jon Anderson. You knew as soon as you heard the first chords it was country, and now days it seems like your listening to POP music. There is no more fiddle, slide guitar or music like Marshall Tucker made. I loved Mark Chesnutt (I'll think of something"), etc. A lot of George Straight songs were dumb like Check yes or no, but you knew it was George after a few lines. If you have never listened to George Jones, Tammy Wynette or Loretta Lynn, you ought to, just so you can know where the roots originally came from.
