To speak for myself, I'm still behind Joe, but not because I think he's fit. I am scared that he might be our best shot at winning in November. If I and others like me can be genuinely convinced an alternative can do better, we will gladly jump ship. But no sooner. EDIT: As of writing, the most recent general election polls, as aggregated on 538, show him trailing by somewhere between 0-4%. His potential replacements are polling worse. I've argued below that the margin of improvement has to be significant to be convincing, and the math isn't there yet. Switching to a worse-performing and non-incumbent candidate while risking an intraparty brawl is anti-strategy. Until we as a party are prepared to rally behind a real replacement, don't give up the ship. EDIT 2: It's July 21st. Every one of us needs to back Kamala right now. No more infighting or it's Joever.

Dear Mr. Stewart, I have long been a fan of yours both on camera and behind the scenes. There are approximately 50,000 service members who were medically retired for their actions during their time in combat zones, and then service members are forced to choose between their earned DOD retirement or their VA Disability rating. I am a combat medically retired Marine who watched you fight for many of my fellow service members for the PACT Act, and now humbly ask for your fighting strength again. There is legislation called The Major Richard Star Act that continues to gain traction in both chambers of Congress and both sides of the aisle. However, even though the bill has over 300 co-sponsors in the House and over 70 in the Senate, it is stalled out while tens of thousands of service members continue to suffer daily. I believe that someone in your position can bring light to the situation and call for action on our behalf, much like you have in the past. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do. Your work keeps me grounded in a world that is constantly up in the air. -James G. Kratky

I don't really want an 80+ year old man to have to do that job. It is not fair to him or us. He's up in MI and WI by five points, and has narrowed the margin in every swing state but PA. It's easy to make election judgements when you don't know how they work. "Morning Consult has Joe winning Michigan & Wisconsin. James Carville saying "quit" sounds ignorant. By digging in, Joe's defiance taps into same contempt for the Beltway punditocracy Trump taps into. Dust will settle. Democrats stabbing Joe may turn out to be the best thing that happened to him." --David Feldman.

I figured the Dem's would have someone in the limelight who would be the assumed pinch runner by now. The fact that nobody managed to rise up as a substitute contender on the sidelines is both alarming and depressing. The've learned nothing from railroading Bernie.

I am SO glad Jon Stewart is back! Hearing him state what we're all thinking is like drinking a tall glass of cool, refreshing, health-sustaining water. Calling this segment "cathartic" would be a major understatement.
@andrewcarroll97385 ай бұрын
I'm not. Used to be a huge fan. Rally to Restore Sanity was a big inspiration when I was first becoming politically aware. Jon knows that a replacement candidate wouldn't appear on every ballot and is pushing for a replacement anyway. I'm very surprised and disappointed to see him participating in this dangerous circus.

Try listening to Fox News. They've been telling the truth about Biden for the last 4 years. The ONLY reason Jonny boy is telling the truth now is because he knows Biden can't win and is trying to force him out.

This is kind of the big ideal that I think Stewart and everyone else is missing. It's not "versus a suffocating gerontocracy". That's our choice on both accounts and pretending that it's somehow different for the other side isn't helping.

@@Cyrathil A left winger with "big ideas" please spare us. The RNC had a fair and square primary a lot of people contestet Trump and had fair access to everything. Trump just crushingly won. Republicans love Trump. The DNC needed to change the rules of their primary permanently, abandoned the primary altogether in Florida, made unfair rule changes to block Kennedy and everyone else. This childish concept that the left whenever they have a problem call that the other side would have the SAME problem is so childish like an 8 year old. Biden is to old. Then: Trump is to old too 🤡 Biden is in cognitive decline. Libtards: Trump is in declien look at his gaffees 🤡 and on and on. Makes everything a leftwinger says a ridiculous clownshow
