merch marine Dude, reread the conversation and realize that you're just a guy on the internet. You could write the most well thought out thesis on American politics, and no one here would give a crap. Same goes for anybody around here, really. You're not changing anyone's opinions, you're not making the world a better place, all you're really doing is wasting everyone's time - including your own. Have some self-respect, people. If you're going to talk about the ethics and peculiarities regarding liberalism and conservatism, just do it in a nice and orderly fashion with mutual respect and openness if only to pass the afternoon. But come on. "turd eating libtard"? Using 'conservative' as an insult? Have some standards, people. Also, please note the importance of spellcheckers. If you're on Chrome, just right click the text box and it should be right there. It'll make everyone's day a lot easier, and offer a lot of credibility on the basis of "If you can't even spell, why should we listen to your opinion?"

O'Reilly is slick. He has set up is show as "the no spin zone" in order to "justify" his constant interruption of his guests. He interrupts his guests as soon as they are making a point that is contrary to his worldview. Then when the guest objects to the interruption, O'Reilly, "justifies" the interruption by saying that he 'can't allow any spin in the "no Spin Zone."' When the guest further objects (to the absurdity of O'Reilly's "justification"), O'Reilly starts raising his voice AT the guest. If the guest doesn't acquiesce, O'Reilly raises his voice yet higher and becomes agitated. This childish behavior will continue until the guest stops talking or goes into some sort of agreement with O'Reilly. This is bullying in the name of seeking truth. It's no wonder O'Reilly isn't teaching any longer because this methodology of teaching would not be tolerated in today's schools. "And that's a fact," as O'Reilly would say.

I live in Sweden. We're just a small unimportant country in a forgotten part of Europe. But we have very stubborn people with strong opinions. Goverment-television tried a rude host like O'Reilly on a show in the late 80's called "debate"(rough translation", were controversial things were debated between pro and con people. He's name is Siewert Öholm and he behaved exactly as O'Reilly. He didn't last very long. People demanded him fired and he was. To this day , he can't show his face outside without people want to disguss what a rude behaviour he had , hahahaha , 25 years later.

It doesn't matter what you say about him because he has proved to the american people that he is trust worthy and puts his heart and soul in to what he does which is be a comedian and deliver news the way people want to hear it, the way it needs to be said but, when he is gone you will wish we had a voice like Jon's.

+WJ R a waveform has a + and - position. When listening in stereo if the + are changed to - on one side that's called putting it out of phase. It creates a hole in the middle and if you listen in mono most of the sound is removed because two out of phase waves cancel each other out, much like waves of water can cancel each other out if they hit or double up if they're matched

Stewart is pretty valid in many of his criticism of Fox news and how it is an arm of the right wing. But Stewart is just as much a shill for the left, and takes people out of context all the time. They want to sit there and talk about how Fox edits things?! Look at how Stewart and Olberman edit their shows. Look at what Stewart did to Peter Schiff on the minimum wage. They interviewed him for 4 hours just to get 2 mins of footage so they could slice it together and not show any real debate. Oh and they got the supply curve wrong, went back and fixed and didn't say anything.
@Terantable
@Terantable 10 жыл бұрын
All the media edit info they get, and show it out of context when they want it to be shown that way. Now why should we bother about few examples of such thing? Lets just sit back and keep things as they are. Is that your point?
@aarodful
@aarodful 10 жыл бұрын
Terant Merciless uhhhhhhhhh no. When did I say that? I don't mind if Olberman calls out Bill, I just don't think he should sit there and pretend he is morally superior and not guilty of the same crime. He should admit that he does it too. I guess it's not in human nature to pluck out the stick in our own eye before we pluck out the speck in another persons.

Except one doesn't claim to be a reliable news organization and the other does. Daily Show is satire and doesn't pretend to be much else, O'rielly acts as if he is an accurate, unbiased news broadcaster. The Daily Show is a comedic show, O'Rielly Factor portrays itself as legitimate news reporting.

Agreed. I think Stewart is his guilty conscience. O'Reilly is intelligent enough to know the majority of the things FOX shows is just to slander and discredit the other side, no matter how foolish it sounds when under the scope. His job is to back it up, and Stewart makes that job more difficult then most. Hence, the respect.

Sonof Richard I feel ur view is a bit skewed, but not entirely. You cant lay pundit games at the feet of Obama - that crap's been running for a while; and I don't just mean Republicans, Bush and Fox News (although they've been quite good at it). It goes way back. Decades. And it is our fault - the American voter doesn't fact check (most of the time). Or, at least, they don't check objectively. We get the government we elect. It is most definitely our fault. Crony capitalism, corporate oligarchy - we paved the path through complacency and subjective political views.

"... i'll pay off part of his next harassment settlement!" 7 years ago, O'Reilly was a joke, and everyone knew the punchline. But it took 7 more years for his bad behavior to result in a $25mill golden parachute and a "how's about you extend that vacation a bit longer."

Reilly really pissed me off when he talked about how he pays 50% tax. He gets $20m a year from Fox and another $30m from book sales. He's against providing a minimum wage or any social welfare. Of course this is against people who don't have an income like him. But he has nothing against $200m a year in subsidies for Exxon.

Bill made the footage available online, that's saying something. Content is edited out of TV shows all the time for a variety of reasons, normally time. The host is the one who is trying to make a story out of something that isn't news.

It is news, it is trying to show the cut and paste Fox does. MSNBC may be one-sided, but you can fact check them, and they take their beatings and air them. Most people watch the news on tv, not online. Fox, you fact check them and you find out that they constantly make stuff up. I watch neither, this is just entertainment to me. I watch C-SPAN, and get my news from totally non-bias sources off the internet, because I want truth, not entertainment tv for the ignorant.

It's reasonable to assume that many many more viewers only saw the interview on tv and didn't take the extra step to go online and watch the entire thing. Remember that the average age of his audience is something like 70. "That's saying something"? It's saying the interview was so heavily edited it would have been misleading NOT to make the entire thing available. As I already said, the vast majority of those who watched it took the edited version at face value.

Aside from the clips being rather boring - I think Bill O'Reilly did a good job defending himself. I'm not a big O'Reilly fan, but I would be careful before I accused him of something. Like him or not, he's a brilliant analyst and communicator.

His "defense" of himself was pathetic, Stewarts assaults on him were withering and dead-on accurate. I love Stewart and Colbert as comedians, it's even better to see them take a more serious stance on the same subjects they joke about. Not just because they seem to be more informed than whatever idiot they're debating against, but because it also shows they're not JUST comedians, these guys actually know what they're talking about.

Let me put it this way. I'm not American, but what I know about politics: no single party is better than the other. Some parties have better idea's for the future, but there's always this dimwitted fuckhead who fucks shit up. Like here in Belgium, we had a prime minister once who saved up a butload of money during his regime because he thought it would come in handy in the next decade or so. What happened: the next prime minister that took over wasted all that money on luxuries we did not need. And for that reason the Belgians were able to live a luxury life up until the crisis in 2007. Early retirement, high retirement fund, low loan costs, high interest with the bank. And suddenly this crisis struck, and where was all that money? Down the fucking drain.

SPACEMONKEY288 Really you shouldn't claim or feel that only 1 political party can represent you best. Just look at what each person stands for and make a decision based off of that. No one on KZbin will be able to give you a non-opinionated verdict on what political party you should choose.

Sickening that this was over 10 years ago. FOX has since embraced everything Stewart has said and cranked it to 10. Tucker Carlson, specifically, has used the "frame everything as a question" tactic to make him what his is today. "Did the FBI construct the January 6th event?"

I am not a fan of Bill O'Reilly. But, I did not see this as either of them outwitting the other. As far as respecting a president...they are our servants. Last time I checked; we are voting them in. Respect is earned. Don't see too many politicians earning our trust or our respect these days. Our soldiers that go and defend our country deserve that. They die for our freedoms which are being lost by the politicians that are supposed to serve us and protect this great nation. We are still allowed to say what we think about these things; but unless things change and we start to defend our freedom; we will lose that right. We were founded "one nation under God". If people don't want to believe; it is up to them. But, it is our right to worship and talk about the Lord and yes, even to display a nativity. That is called FREEDOM. This is a silly argument between Stewart and O'Reilly. They don't agree, so what? They both have their rights. I do agree with one thing...the republican party, in general, has become more liberalized. I am a conservative Christian. I am an independent voter. The parties are all now too similar. We have a few select people with good moral values; but most people just give in, even if they don't agree. Worse yet, there are many people that I have talked to that don't even know what their parties stand for or against. Some of them even disagree with the things that the parties stand for. But, they have always affiliated with one party, or their family or friends tell them how to vote or what to believe.

MSNBC was started as a REACTION to Fox, which is blatently and unabashadly ultra right wing. And I don't recall anyone, especially Stewart himself calling Stewart a "credible journalist". Stewart is a COMEDIAN, it's just a sad fact that he digs deeper into issues than most news organizations (especially Fox) do. Everyone edits due to limited time. Stewarts issue was WHAT was edited.
