In their prime, and glory. The original 12 minute version still holds as a wonderfully gentle, spiritual piece. I kinda wish my friends liked this.

Slam Dunk Cosmos How old are your friends? This music is timeless if you ask me. Every friend I've turned on to this song has absolutely loved it and every time they here it I usually get a shout out on Facebook or something saying how it reminds them of me! That feels so amazing! It reminds me of the person who first played it for me as well! It's a wonderfully gentle, spiritual piece for sure! I love the way you described it. We are lucky to have it to enjoy in the years to come! Peace! Tammie Parrish Miller

My husband and I loved Vangelis. One day he brought home this album and we just went insane for it. When my kids were little we had it on our big stereo all the time. Thanks you Vangelis for all your music. You are the Greek God of music forever.
@hawthornleaf5909 Жыл бұрын
I think this is the first time I have heard the single edit and whilst it is nice I imagine folks who have not heard the full album version must wonder why so many people are waxing lyrical about this song. You have to experience the full 12-minute version, simple as that. A friend of mine at college in 1988 put me on to this song, I was blown away, and it has gone on to resonate brightly through the decades. It was certainly out of step with the music fashions of the day but that didn't bother us 17-year-olds in the slightest. It's one of those songs where I hang on to every moment of the journey, and it simultaneously pulls me back to special times as a teen.

Not sure how many times Vangelis actually appeared in his promotional videos (I can only think of a couple (and they involve Jon Anderson!)). We've lost a really special figure in music and an exceptionally gifted person. We have these little snippets to remember him by. Rest in Peace and Thank you.

40 years ago I discovered this song on French TV while on holidays. I didn't wait long to find the LP (yes LP) of the Friends of Mr. Cairo. Epic. Ground braking songs with Jon. And then my discovery of China album and much more. In all your songs you have just that moment where the angels just kindly touch the notes and we listened together with you. RIP Maestro

I have this on vinyl, and play it every once in a while. Gives me chills every time I listen to it. What a perfect song from an unsung duo! They really worked well together. This video doesn't include it, but there's a brilliant tempo/beat shift at the end of the song that I've been trying to figure out how they pulled off so flawlessly since 1994 when I first heard the song.
