This was the kind of video I originally wanted to make after hearing the news about Jonas, but it was too hard to start going through footage and editing until some time had passed. The scope here is limited to some of his biggest accomplishments in the world of Tetris, what the community thought about him, and what he thought about the community - but of course, this only scratches the surface of his life. The GoFundMe to benefit his family is still active and the link is in the description, if anyone would like to still make a donation.

Jonas and the previous winners set up a competitive tetris stage so friendly and welcoming, even during the world championships. Now, we have young kids who are following their footsteps. They become so good and this week, a 16 yr old became the first to get to the Kill screen. And guess what, his main competitor(a world champion) and also a kid, was cheering for him. Tetris is in good hands Jonas. We miss you.

There is not a even a tiny bit of envy in him, he was always going for his best and if that wasn't enough to defeat someone he was the first one to congratulate and to acknowledge it. I love how that little joke started by Ibai Llanos at 1:17 about Jonas being Jonás a Spaniard from Albacete, ended up with Jonas visiting Albacete and receiving the Key of the Town from the mayor, and a hand made penknife. (Albacete is known in Spain for their magnificent penknifes). Also you can see at 3:21 Jonas under the Spanish flag, that'snot true he was american. But that little video of Ibai was too powerful. The press here in Spain really thought he was Spanish for a day or two and a lot of articles were made about him. I knew Jonas thanks to that video and I can't believe he passed away. Best regards, Jonas. Rest in peace.

Tetris is a truly amazing game but this man and his kind character always full of positivity built and drove the community which has grown up surrounding it. He was born with a goodness inside which just made others feel positive about themselves. The vast majority of people rise to the top of any sport or competition through a narcistic drive to be the best. Jonas never gave off any selfish vibes, poor sportsmanship or visions towards self gain. He was the most humble champion in both victory and defeat and a light in this community which will always shine through his example. I noticed a comment on another post saying we should name the world championship after Jonas. I agree with this there should be an annual tournament in his name or a fair play award named after him we should make sure all future generations will forever remember Jonas Neubauer the embodiment of great sportsmanship within esports and tetris.

I'm glad I got to join his Twitch hangouts for the last 2 years. There was more to him than his Tetris victories. He welcomed everyone and was fun to hangout with. I viewed his stream as a fun get together, without having to physically show up to his house. I found myself smiling every time I joined his stream. I'm sad that I don't get to spend many more years, and possibly decades, watching Jonas live on Twitch. And I always looked forward to meeting Jonas in person, but that will never happen. I truly hope that one day I could even remotely be proud of my work in Tetris, I want to pay respect in Jonas' honor and work to become the best player I can be. Thank you, so much for this heartfelt tribute. It means the world to me to always have a video here to look back on. Even though I never met you, Jonas, I love and appreciate you. So much. Thank you.

A Jonas tribute with the "Connected" theme from Tetris Effect... I can't handle this bro, I'm already in tears...

The first video I watched for classic tetris and that got me hooked was Jonas' win in 2017. It might sound cheesy for some but when I couldn't sleep at night or I needed to feel calm and happy I chose to watch CTWC videos or Jonas' it made me happy and made me forget when everything else wasn't always right. I laughed bc of him, I'm so lucky to have stubble upon this community

Tetris community would not be as it is today without this man. A legend who has inspired and will continue to inspire even after his untimely departure. Rest well legend from Albacete.

Thank you scout, this video is incredible. It's hard to describe how this video makes me feel. But it's a good one despite the sadness.
