There's a simple trick to avoid such issues like at 9:00 : Just click Z on your keyboard (shortcut for "Find Zero Crosssings") each time after you have selected a part of your track with the selection tool. It automatically moves the start- and end-position of your selection to correct positions and you will never have problems with cracking or plopping sounds anymore ;-)

Totally going to make 1,2,3 1,2,3 bla bla bla bla blaaa..... my new notification sound. On a serious note this was a very informative (and entertaining) tutorial on making sound. Also it showed you can make decent sounds without buying any fancy equipment. Love how you put so much effort to make sure all the effects in paid software can be found in Audacity. Huge THANKS Jonas

I love playing around in foley! Thanks Jonas. If anyone heres uses Unreal, learn about sound cues. You can use them to make very unique sounds from the same files. Ie. change tempo of a song, modulate pitch to make an foot step slightly different ect.

You can also use a dog clicker and record all your sounds in one go. Just pop the clicker in between and it will create a noticeable spike in the wave form to mark or delimit the distinction where your sounds can be found and split them from there to multiple tracks, etc. Btw I love watching your vids, you have s great personality and helps me stay sane when I feel like I'm not going anywhere as a dev lol gives me new ways to approach my dev and design

A gate would be better than noise removal. Also, when you hear the clicking at the beginning of a slice it's because the samples aren't cut at a zero crossing. If you can find a 'cut at zero crossing' setting there would no need for fade ins.

Hello Jonas, recently started following you and watching your videos. I have one question, if you could maybe help me. I am planning on starting the carrer with sound effects making, i have used FL Studio as DAW for creating music but i find it a little more complicated when it comes to editing sound effects. Do you maybe have some recommendation, FL Studio kinda feels like it is not so good for SFX creation? I did tried audacity, it is ok but maybe i want something bit better ... I saw that you use Cubase. Is Cubase Pro maybe to hard for beginners? :D
