I'm sure a lot of them do mate. It's just not spicy enough to generate money unlike drama and meltdowns. The unemployment line of actors is immeasurable and just getting a role is a feat in itself. There's many missed Oscar like performances out there that have gone to waste by actors that have put a lifetime into the game but for whatever reason they just never got... as he points out himself, "lucky". To land one on a production that's as near as perfection as it gets, with a cast that's equally comparable, and in a role that you love is some pretty rare magic experienced by very few. It really is magic though otherwise the recipe would be known and replicated. 👍

Heres what I have been thinking.i just finished BCS (Had to wait til ot dropped on Netflix). Johnathan Banks is a working actor (most on both of the shows are). By that they get baddie of the week parts on Law and Order, or the crying spouse on CSI, or some random bachround charaecter in one scene in some movie. All of them have worked (and still work). Most werent house hold names before these shows. Yea we know Cranston as the dad on a successful sitcom, and Bob was always in the alternative comedy scene (Mr.Show) and Johnathan Banks was on some undercover mafia show in the 1980s, but by in large those arent huge everybody recognizes you roles. You go to work, you do some acting, you get a check, you go home. Banks has been a working actor on the fringes of stardom for decades. And now all of a sudden he is in a role that EVERYONE knows. There has to be a feeling of validation that all those years of hard work paid off, that by god you are a great actor. And to get that with a group of actors just like him, all sharing the spotlight together, has got to be an immensly humbling, and emotional thing. So go ahead Mr. Banks, show us the soft side, we love you all the more for it because its well deserved.

Mike's character was invented because Odenkirk couldn't do one episode of BB. So Saul sends "The Guy he knows" Jon turned a 2 dimensional stand-in character into a fleshed out human being with a soul. The episode of 'Saul where Mike confesses to his Son's widow how his advice to his son got him killed, was absolutely gut-wrenching. Jonathan nailed that shit.

@@BaronVonBielski you could just Google it > When Gilligan was still developing Breaking Bad, he planned to kill off Jesse by the season 1 finale. The move was meant to show that seemingly major characters weren't completely safe on the series. The original story intended for Jesse to die from a botched drug deal. It would have served as a plot device, plaguing Walt with an immense amount of guilt leading into season 2 and beyond. Thankfully, Gilligan quickly threw out the idea after filming the show's second episode.

Cranston didn't really either even tho yes they have just around 10 years age difference so Banks is obviously older. Still by the normal hollywood standards. Cranston ofc also was the dad in Malcolm in the Middle but that's not really Making It, tv wasn't seen as serious acting at the time and it's a side-role in one big series. That's like if Breaking Bad didn't excist, people having an occasional convo of do you remember the dad in Malcolm.., yeah he was funny or just answering no. Even Bob Odenkirk is someone who would have had some Serious hard times to get out of the comedy box without BB and them pretty soon since Saul came into the series, starting to talk about making a spin-off about him when BB is done.

For me, there's been only one such show, but only barely so, and that was Scrubs.

When my marriage fell apart and post cardiac surgery, I watched BB continuously on DVD collection seven times. The way Jonathan pours it out is as natural as the whole team/cast did in their years together! Miss you guys. Take care

What a chad. Damn. You had some heart issues and you spent your time watching a show about all that suspenses and intrigues...

Mike deserves his own show!! A prequel to his life like how they did better call Saul. Everyone wants to know what he did in his early life as a cop, and what transpired there leading him to the life he did in the BB/BCS universe.

I really think it is impressive and BB’s force, how well written all of the characters were. Pretty much all the characters feel multilayered, eventhough we only see them for a relativly short periode of their lives. I would also love to know how Jesse got the way he were, when he is clearly a really good and sensitive guy that never really got corrupted by the money, the power and what they did.

Jonathan Banks is a national treasure. Delivers one of the most memorable performances of one of the best shows ever made, and then does this in an interview. What a humble and talented man.

I love the way you saw that in this. I missed that but yes.. he has all reason to be misguided by ego and hubris... but instead he is true to himself. He is a man's man. Confident enough to feel emotion the way he did is badass. A weak man could never have channeled Mike the way he brought that Character to life is exceptional.
