They way they were slowly bringing in The Rock in SD and Raw points to the fact that it was going to be The Rock vs Roman. Literally nobody has asked Cody why he came out on SD and told Roman clearly he didn’t want him at Mania, that sentence alone is what sparked up the crybabies.

Cody won the Rumble, then pointed to Roman afterwards. That was ALWAYS the plan. Then Punk got injured, and Seth didnt have a Mania opponent. They probably figured given Seth's history with Cody, it would be a good replacement for Raw, but fans wanted none of that. Rock being the new board of directors then thought people wanted him and Roman to headline Mania. Wrong again. People nowadays actually care about long term storytelling, and Cody's story has been built up for 2 years. It has to end at Mania.

Don't forget about the John Cena effect on the chill locker room. For example, he visited NXT and told them he NEVER pitched a storyline in his WWE career! Lexis King in his CVV interview said he won't ever pitch an idea now. It's the concept of "let creative do their jobs" and you go do yours, be the best at something and you get your time. That said, keep in kind that Cody Rhodes got his 1st Wrestlemania 1-on-1 match because Rey Mysterio barged into Vince's office and said he wanted to work Cody for Wrestlemania. I truly believe that Triple H can work both approaches, but yeah if you're not happy with where you're at...

Shows the difference in showmanship from attitude era to today. Seth and codys promos are just very watered down to the finished product. Like warrior, macho man, bret hart etc the promos back then were on another level too. Eg. Cody comes out after smackdown goes off air and responds to the rocks comments and his reply was "But theres children in the crowd" really? I like cody but cmooon, make people believe the beef is real. Sell it! Rock had memorable promo banters with triple h, austin, hurricane etc

I think people are underestimating the rock’s prowess for what the people want. Why would he want to come back just to do the same shtick as always? I believe he knew he’d get heat for taking the spotlight for the most over babyface and wanted to use it as an opportunity to do something different than he has for over a decade.

Last WWE house show I went to I saw The Rock, Stone Cold, Undertaker vs HHH, Kane, Kurt Angel back in 1999! I went this Sunday to Fresno with 16,000 people in attendance it was amazing! Cody, LA Knight, Austin theory, solo, new day, R truth, Gunther, and so many more! Rock brings me back, but the talent light Cody & LA Knight are killing it, might stick around even after Rock takes off again!

I love that Coach doesn't shy away from his feelings towards some people in WWE. He clearly dislikes them, and has a ton of stories that explains why so. Him clearly stating that Triple H and Rock don't like each other, and Bully nodding in approval, tells you that the situation in WWE is probably way more intense than any storyline we are seeing on screen.

The Coach and The Rock have always had chemistry (either in the ring or those (very amusing) backstage interview segments) with help of (an ex-WWE (Smackdown Live !) veteran writer), Brian Gerwitz. I don't know if the Coach had ever worked with these two other writers: Dave Lagana (formerly of the NWA (with owner Billy Corgan) and Chris DeJoseph (known in the WWE/WWF as "Big D#ck Johnson," from MLW, Lucha Underground)

Ok maybe it was a pivot, or was it? Rock dropped a heel teaser back when the first pat mcafee interview. Also that promo btw CM Punk and Cody when he told him “what’s that, a much bigger superstar” HHH knew rock was coming back before the Rumble. They could’ve known they had a Daniel Bryan situation on their hands. Who truly will ever know? They made Cody even bigger, relit the bloodline story and Rock been going thru a lot of ish cause of Black Adam the Maui issue they could have used this moment for him to tell those people how he feels and bring back heel Rock. He also said he was waiting for the story. Now he literally sits at Thee table. So maybe it was part of the plan or maybe not.
