When I was a young girl struggling to find myself and to fit in , this book found me. It made an impression on me like no other book. I am now 62 and still don’t quite fit in but I am very comfortable with myself. I also had a beautiful yellow canary that I had named “Jonathan Livingston Canary” ❤

I played this album almost daily when I was a younger man. I was working in a parish where I was misunderstood. Many years later, I resurrected it in cd form because I was assistant principal at a school at which the principal didn't like me and often criticized me in front of faculty and students. Both times this music got me over self-pity and even helped to subdue my anger. Oh, the politics of Catholic schools and parishes!

So glad I found this it has profound meaning to my mom and I. W e played this album in the back ground at the funeral when brother died in 1975, he was only 6. Mom is now 90 and I am 68 and It still has the same meaning to us. It seemed like he sang just for us. Profound and hauntingly beautiful

still thankful to my father for giving me the album LP more than 30 years ago, by curiosity and chance, bought the book in a flea market and it was (and is) even greater, never seen the movie though. But as i said, even today i´m thankful to my dad for this "journey". Best gift ever, after 30 years it still feels brand new. PS: sorry for my bad english.

This album is the best of Neil Diamond. It expresses all of our feelings and emotions. It is the very best of Neil Diamond, even though he did not write all of it. When the music is played by an orchestra, it has so much meaning and almost makes it a classical piece. Dear Father is a dream and a prayer We dream while we may. Keep it up, Neil, you are the best!

This album is so heart rending & heartrendingly beautiful, however, I have not seen these images until recently & worry that Gulls were sacrificed in settings not their own & the one at the rubbish tip was not rescued. Fabulous, classic, mindbending album thank you.

I grew up listening to this vinyl long play, which I still have with me. Always loved it. Now that I’m 51 just lost my right leg in an accident. Neil’s music kept me afloat and willing to overcome the worst moments of this experience. Dear father is like a prayer to me, and Be represents the fall and subsequent resurgence of my life. I’m not lying when I say that this music is in good part the reason I’m still alive.

One of the most special movies ever made, regardless what some filmcritics says, based on their completely ignorance on the subject and seemingly a lack of deep human wisdom.
@antarasinha86392 ай бұрын
You're so right. Critics don't have wisdom, especially philosophical truths, the truths of the soul they don't know. Their journey ends at mind only. They're intellectuals but they are not wise enough to feel the subtle and sublime truths of Jonathan Livingston.

Me too. I always just keep remembering this film and the music. A couple of decades ago there were a couple of seagulls who visited us here in the desert. They stayed for a couple of days and then were gone. We're more than a hundred miles from any ocean. It was winter then.
@novemileal4659 жыл бұрын
Andre R. Newcomb I guess since you were more than a hundred miles from the ocean and they are able to fly between 35-40 mph (depending on the species) survival was not a problem. They are interesting creatures.
@rsk92899 жыл бұрын
Andre R. Newcomb Seagulls will not fly over mountains so I expect they were "Atlantic" seagulls. I wonder if that was the dream of JLS; to fly over a mountain! Sometimes the only way to finish something is to fly over the mountain!

The price to be paid for persons having talent & therefore are envied by many stupid ones: Is Very High ...... But are still higher the satisfactions that, a talented person receives throughout its life, day after day...minute by minute, and this is the only thing that it really own in life . By many blows that others have tried to give you .. don't forget that: One talented person, is talented for everything...Even to ignore all kind of nonsense...

If you want to be happy, find out what you love most of all. Throw into this love with courage, perseverance and the maximum determination. The reward for your efforts you will be condemned and the exclusion of your friends and loved ones. However, if you refuse to give up, if you survive the loneliness and the tight hold of your love, you find that you have new friends, new family, that your values and shared ideals. With them fly farther and higher than you can imagine.

Neil Diamond is one of a kind! His music is transcendental, and transports you to a place where you live your most transcending dreams! Neil's Music harmoniously propels Jonathan Livingston Seagull himself, his journey and you to those heights where life's challenges are nonexistent, and you soar to the zenith of inspiration where you almost live in purity that is unknown to humankind! This powerfully moving work of art cannot but come from a mind that is powerfully transpired by the only true Creator! It is mind-blowing, potentially elevating one to infinity!
