The Nolan Brothers are a great case study of how Hollywood doesn't respect their writers, both are writers but just chris gets all the attention because he's also a director.

@Film Shorts I mean tbh Jonathan has barely directed anything even in tv. he directed like only 1 episode of Persons of Interest in the entirety of it's 5 seasons and 3 episodes of westworld. so it's not like he is some active tv director anyway.
@cobaltfalcon94582 жыл бұрын
Jonah has co-written half of Chris' movies, directed a fair amount of episodes from his shows, and has tv deals with HBO and Amazon, despite Westworld's cancellation. That being said, I do agree that he should venture more into film, and would likely get the kind of love that Chris gets

Forever upset with CBS for not allowing Jonathan Nolan to make Person of Interest more serialized specially in the last season. Sometimes when I watch West World I see all the lost potential Person of Interest had. I love POI and is one of my favorite shows but knowing that could have been so much better breaks my heart. Glad that Jonathan is working with HBO now, he can have all the creative freedom that he wants.
@reculture6 жыл бұрын
katyga I tend to agree with you as i huge fan myself, I'm still amazed for what they did as they initially managed to 'smuggle' very intelligent series concept/narrative into something that looks like typical CBS crimi procedural. I believe full blown POI premise/pitch wouldn't fly with then CBS executives, so they initially masked it into cop drama/procedural in order to tell us the story... Be it as it may, at least they managed to end that amazing show on their own terms within those last 13 episodes...

Jonathan and Christoper Nolan must have had quite disparate upbringings as one has a clear American accent and the other rather English. I know they both hold dual nationality, but it's interesting how one seems so different than the other, not just in accent, but the way they talk.

What’s next for Westworld? Monitor the fandom’s desires and theories. Try to come up with something they haven’t guessed and that maximizes their desires. Horseshoe in as much religious imagery as possible. Cram it all together and if it doesn’t make sense just audible and drop certain elements and retcon them next season.

Jonathan Nolan is a show-runner, writer , producer. Hes not just a writer and Christopher often writes and directs his own movies. A director is often paid more and respected more because they are in charge of the whole movie production, the movies rests on their shoulders. think of movies directors as the generals, the regular soldiers and generals have completely different responsibility one of them has a greater responsibility then the other. If the movie doesn't go well its not the writer that gets the brunt of it its the director that's why when movies flop often the director shares majority of the blame way before you get to the writer.
