Jonathan Roumie on being told to "downplay" his faith

A new docuseries entitled ‘Jonathan and Jesus’ was released on Jan. 4 and is streaming on Amazon Prime. The series follows Catholic actor Jonathan Roumie as he explores the impact Jesus Christ had on the world throughout history, and how the great weight of playing the Son of God impacts Roumie himself.
The four-episode docuseries takes viewers around the world visiting iconic sites in Rome, Paris, and more, while notable names such as Brandon Flowers, Alice Cooper, Matt Fradd, Francis Chan, and Sheila E., share their own stories of the role Jesus plays in their lives.
In the series, American rock singer Alice Cooper shares that he was told that if he came out publicly as a Christian his career would fail. Instead, his career flourished. When asked if he ever experienced something similar, Roumie told CNA that he has been told to "downplay" his faith.

I have a cousin he has done many great things with his life. He went to Hwood to attempt to get into acting after several years in local theaters. In Hwood he found it to be totally immoral. I myself no longer have any sort of TV in my home. I read that's enough for me. I do watch The Chosen on my phone, I am a catholic & have distanced myself from secular society. Amen! Sometimes the role God wants us to play is hard. As a widow (for 13 years now), I look after my 2 kids, my paralysed mother (16 years now) and my younger brother & his family of 4 (past 2 years now) because he lost his job and battling depression. And all I get from others is to abandon them & live my life. I will NEVER do that. I choose to do Jesus; ie unconditional love. Unconditional until I breathe my last.

Thank you Jennifer & Arnold for your encouragement. I decided to leave a friendship of 30 years just before Christmas ‘23 because my friend said some terribly hurtful things and questioned my love for my family, and my daughter. Her words kept looping in my head since I stopped talking to her (it’s been 2 months now). I felt so bad today that I had to speak to my priest about it today. And as I told my priest; I forgive her, truly I do. I am not even angry, I’m just hurt. And I can no longer be her friend. She has been like this for 30+ years. Always judging people. It’s just so tiring. It’s not even her money, and she has so much to say…. In fact, this time, I actually felt that she was envious of me. But my son said it so well: “She’s not envious of you, mama. She has been your friend for 30+ years. She’s probably just envious of the kind of love you always give.” Doing Jesus’ unconditional love is unimaginable and hard. But we have to keep at it. We have to. “I love you, Jesus. Teach me to be more and more like you. In your mighty name, I pray. Amen.”

At 70 I was a little lost, a little angry, a little impatient with people and a lot more littles. My wife began to notice a change in me. I was happy, calm and very flexible towards everyone. One night, over dinner, she wanted to know what was up with me. She was really liking this side of me. I started explaining that, through prayer, I was shown a path that I simply couldn’t ignore. I don't have any problem with you sharing your faith I think it's beautiful to talk about Jesus. I am a born again Christian myself and I talk about Him every chance I get. First of all let me tell you that I love the way you work on, The Chosen , your a good actor, very credible in your role as Jesus. I can't wait to see Season four in another week or so. My son and I pray for the whole cast, especially you and Shahar because your roles are very important to the whole Show and it's credibility to the Bible. I have only one complaint regarding your speaking about your faith, you talk more about the religion of Catholicism then you do about Jesus. Jesus is the only one we need, He alone died for our sins, not any religious icon or person, only Jesus, the Son of God, No one comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ Himself. He alone is the Door to the Father. I would also ask you to please show me in the Bible, The Word of God, where it says to pray with a string of beads you call a rosary I have been a Christian for 43 years reading the Bible, and I have never read anything about praying with beads. I pray for you every day that you would search the scriptures yourself and see what you come up with. Start with the Gospel of John, thats a great book to start. Now go and talk to your hearts content about Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen ❤

I offered a man today a prayer card when I went to go vote and he said that he was not willing to pay the price to follow jesus.
