Jonathan lost his mother, dio did horrible things to him and erina, he lost his best friend danny, he lost his home, his father, and his long life with his family. He knew that he will never get to spend his life with erina, he never saw his son being born and grow up to be a man, he never saw his grandson being born and growing up. But even after knowing what dio did and its after effects, through all of that, he still loved dio as a brother, and held him smiling. Jotaro is the most boring JoJo I've seen so far (I'm sticking to the anime, I haven't read any of the manga). His whole personality boils down to, "Yare yare daze..." Which is a shame because everything else about _Stardust Crusaders_ and its characters are pretty much the best part about _JoJo's Bizarre Adventure_, and all the other characters are given plenty of time to interact with each other and they change as the narrative goes on. Jotaro is only given screen time to save the day and he never has any one-on-one moments with the main cast unless he's going to fight them. That's not to say the moments he _is_ doing badass things aren't awesome, but the thing is that's all we know about him. He doesn't have any real goals, no huge personality flaws that get resolved, nor does he seem to actually care about saving his mother. When they're all about to go into DIO's mansion and the narrator tells us what's going through the minds of the cast and what they wish to resolve after the conflict, all Jotaro says is, "So, when we're done with this, we get to go home, right?" I mean, seriously, would it hurt to give this guy some motivation?

Some people think that he acts this way because the Crusaders, along with most of the other charcters, speak in english. Kakyoin is a good student, and both Polnareff and Avdol are travelers or have experience with other foregin people. Jotaro, however only knows a bit of english because of his mother, but he may not be as good as the others. Thus, he speaks only a little an says "yare yare daze" because he doesn't completely understand what other people say. In both Diamond is unbreakable (part 4) and the parts of Vento Aureo and Stone Ocean (parts 5 and 6) when he appears, he speaks a lot more. You can also note that he speaks the most during his initial conversation with Joseph and his fight with Kakyoin This is just a theory that I read online. I personally don't totally agree with it, but makes some sense. In my opinion, jotaro is a heartless bastard anyway. Also, Jotaro is one of the most popular Jojos because, as Joseph, his character is developed through several seasons, which allows us to see him as a teenager punk, as a smart young adult, and as a father Trough parts 3, 4 and 6. I suggest you to read the manga. The chapters have been coloured by fans, so it's really comfortable to read them that way..

José Miguel Romero It's just that I wish Jotaro was given more development with the rest of the cast. I'm okay with him being the silent badass who's taking names and kicking ass, but he rarely interacts with the rest of the cast, which is something both Jonathan and Joseph did a lot. For example, I would have loved if it was Jotaro who was having the magnet problem with Joseph instead of Avdol just so he would get more interaction and more reactions in different situations. Also, imagine if it was Jotaro who guessed what Polnareff's hand signal's meant and then he did the manly handshake instead of Kakyoin. I also think it would have been ten times cooler if his last line to DIO would have been something like, "There is one reason, and one reason only, why you lost, DIO: you were killing my mother, and because of that you really, _really_ pissed me off." Just imagine how much more badass and fulfilling that would have been instead of just, "You _really_ pissed me off"! That way we would know that despite Jotaro's rough exterior, he really did care about his mom the whole time! Just these little things would have made me like Jotaro so much more than I do now; heck, I think he would be my favorite JoJo if that were the case! Also, a little bit of a nitpick here, but I really wish the rest of the cast would have called him "JoJo" more often than Jotaro. I mean, even the cops at the beginning of the season say that his friends call him that, and who else would be his closer friends during the series other than the rest of the Stardust Crusaders? It would also make him closer to how the other JoJo's were called "JoJo" by their friends. But again, that's just a bit of a nitpick on my part.

I honestly feel like Dio wanted Jonathan to live on with him as a vampire despite the fact that it looked like he was tricking him. Even if he was dead or alive Dio *could* still take his body technically, so it's not like Jonathan dying would hinder him. I think he was upset that JoJo died (and you can see it) because he really did want to save him. He respected and still kind've loved his brother in the end, despite their differences and their conflicts; maybe only seeing Jonathan at death's door and getting hugged reminded Dio that JoJo was truly the last one he had. I may be overthinking it lol but this scene means so much to me purely because of Dio going *"JoJo! No... it's too late... he's dead..."* Amazing acting on Patrick Seitz here. RIP Jonathan.

The fact that Dio’s voice actively portrayed sadness when he realized Jonathan died makes me think that the true last bit of humanity in him died as well. No matter what he said, Dio enjoyed Jonathan, maybe even loved him in a perverse way, namely in the way he only called Jonathan ‘JoJo’. He stopped when he made his body his own and Joseph and Jotaro were a thing. But, Dio always speaks fondly of Jonathan, if in a sadistic way. Dio seemed to not have anyone who could have pierced his ‘heart’ once he awoke. Not his direct servants, Vanilla Ice and Enyaba, who stood by him until death. Not Joseph or Jotaro, who seemed to desecrate the gentlemanly nature of Jonathan Joestar. I’d argue not even Pucci could wiggle his way into Dio’s heart.

Carl Daniel it ended up failing because it punctured the wrong spot. Basically polnareff stabbed through the end side of his cerebellum.
