I did work for a person in Surrey UK 3 years ago, it turned out to be an ex pro footballer who was at Ipswich the same time Roy Keane was manager there this guy was a seasoned pro and actually finished his career at Ipswich. His first statement about Roy Keane was he said he was the only person ever in football he was in fear of. He told this story of a reserve team player that Roy had a go at after training the player got upset at the tongue lashing he was getting and Jon Walters stood up and said "gaffer you are out of order" Keane turned on him and said "let's take this outside". 5 minutes later the dressing room door burst open and Keane growled "who else wants a fucking go" Walters got a lesson and it wasn't in words the player told me. He said when both went out the team thought Walters would do Keane but they were stunned when the opposite happened.

This makes me think of how Ibrahimovic has been accused of bullying certain players in Sweden's national team. Ibra himself has said it's bullshit and that he just demands more from players simply because he wants to win. Just like Keane. So there's a good reason why Keane and our Ibra have won so much. And why Walters and the supposedly bullied Swedish players haven't.
@philwill01232 жыл бұрын
Also shows why Keane hasn't managed since. Fact is as a manager, you have to know when to to react properly to situations. Roy has come across as a one dimensional manager. When it works, it works short term, but the fall out is toxic.

@Jamie McCarthy you can have 45 minutes break. He was boxing as a teenager, supposed to have been talented and tough at it. He wouldn't need wrestling strength, he has speed and accuracy, so they're out first punch. I've seen two guys squaring up. One was an ex-Emgland boxer who fought around Europe. The other guy was just a guy acting tough. 1 super fast punch that if I had blinked I would have missed it. All over for the tough guy. He's on the ground, nose busted, blood etc and he's well dazed.
@Google_Does_Evil_Now4 жыл бұрын
@Jamie McCarthy did you even type in Google "Roy Keane boxing"? He boxed for years as a kid, even in the novice boxing league. Here is one entry: "Keane took up boxing at the age of nine and trained for several years, winning all of his four bouts in the novice league." I don't see the point in replying with nonsense when all you need to do is put 3 words in Google and you would have the knowledge.
@Google_Does_Evil_Now4 жыл бұрын
@Jamie McCarthy well I think boxing for years when you're a teenager will have some affect when you're 25. I've seen it plenty. Surely you've trained and learned about up close face to face uppercut? This isn't about a few minutes rolling around. It's about one punch. The other team would have known about Keane boxing and that he had will to do it. Look at Haaland's leg. You mentioned reality, he boxed when he was a teenager. That's the reality. And the best few fighters I seen had boxed. No rolling around nonsense. Just fast and done. Anyway, you have your view, I have mine.

This Walters guy is an excuse merchant, absolutely full of it. It's plain to see that he shit his pants from Keane, and has to try and promote his fantasy version of the story. Guy's a contradiction, who claims he doesn't hold grudges. Why has he got to bring some family marine guy in to the equation. That's typical shitbag deflection techniques the beef is between him and Keane but he has to try and drag everyone else in to it. We all know if someone made comments about your family, to your face, you'd deal with it. You wouldn't then ask them to hit you. Who does he think he's kidding with stories like that. Keane might not be the hardest guy in the world, he dedicated his life to football, not boxing or mma, so clearly won't be a fighter. But his character is much harder than Walters' , if you put them both in a pit and let them scrap, I would bet a months wage that Keane walks out of that pit the winner

Keane is a twat. However, there is no reality where keane wasnt a better and more reliable player for ireland than walters. If you are on about saipan just say it. On the pitch pre saipan Keane was our best players by miles. Not even debatable to anybody with a semblance of footballing sense. Keane being a dick, which he is, is absolutey besides the point. To say walters delivered more on the.pitch for ireland is simply ridiculous and patently untrue. That isnt to take anything from walters. Great player for Ireland. But dont overstate a point based on personality. Keane was an infinitely better player. Keane being a shit guy or walters being a nicer man doesn't come into footballing reality.
