To celebrate the arrival of the 123rd US Open Championship at LA Country Club, in Los Angeles, Jonathan Yarwood created a five clip series of videos to showcase the types of short game shots competitors will need to execute in order to be in contention.
The US Open is known for having some of the toughest conditions in a major, with thick rough that often leads to players hitting shots from very precarious positions. In order to make it to the weekend, US Open competitors will absolutely need to have the short-game skills required to navigate the deep bunkers and speedy greens of LACC.
In Video #3 in the Series, Jonathan shows you the smartest way to navigate chips on tight lies, where getting the ball to spin and stop near the cup, or bounce and release can have a huge impact on your ability to get up and down. Take a look!
