What a throwback… 1st Lady Karen, Twinkie & their mother Mattie Moss Clark. And it’s so AWESOME hearing Bishop J.O. Patterson voice. ❤❤#GrowingUpCOGIC

COGIC IS LEGENDARY FOR EXCELLENCE AND MUSICALITY To God be the glory 🙏🏼❤️🙌🏽❤️

This was a little over a year after the Grammy's incident where Mattie was called in before the Officers of the church. A lot has been said about JO Patterson but I sincerely believed he loved and admired Mattie Clark. When he became Bishop in 1968 he chose her to be over the Music Dept, and as Presiding Bishop could have fired her at anytime but he kept her in that position and this was long before she became a household name through the Clark Sisters. There was clearly genuine respect there

Agree but she was a household name way before the Clark sisters and before JO Patterson became presiding bishop

@aaronj.d.diamond7376 YES..exactly. Mattie Moss Clark was a household name in and out of COGIC. I heard of her before I knew what COGIC was.

@@aaronj.d.diamond7376 She was popular on the gospel scene for sure since the late 50s when her recordings went gold, but was not known on the international scale she would become known on until the 1970s. My point was people like to say Bishop JO didn't like her and that was not the case, he chose her and kept her in that position and clearly appreciated and respected her talents

Amen!!! Can You Also Post 78th holy Convocation 1985?

I love when Karen sung "Endow Me" during that convocation, most especially when the late Reverend James Moore sung "Rise Again".

Father, give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. It is through You that we will do valiantly, for You shall tread down our enemies. You arm us with strength and make our way perfect. You make our feet like the feet of a deer and we stand on the heights. You train our hands for battle, give us Your shield of victory, and Your right hand sustains us. In the name of Jesus we are more than conquerors through You, our LORD, our God. Amen.
