I think so. I don't do a lot of cloth sims but I'd think you'd have to make it editable first then connect all the polys to make it one object

Hi, Thanks for the always good information. when i change the vector file for object menu, The axis changes randomly from the center. Even if I copy and load the same file, the same result. how can i fixed it? this is some kind of bugs? (Turning center xy off and on seems to return to normal, but this was also random..)

I've run into issues myself so I've opted to going back to doing it the old way with importing and Illustrator 8 file instead

Drag and drop is not working for me. I am getting an error message "Cinema 4D Lite - Unknown file Format!" I am working in version 25.117 of Cinema 4D Lite. I have saved the illustrator file as an Illustrator 2020 file. After trying the drag and drop method from my desktop, I tried the old school method of "File > merge project" and "Objects > File > Merge Objects" and neither worked. Any help would be appreciated.

great tutorial as always! wondering if there's a way to create a single Extrude for the whole Illustrator's layer when using Hierarchy? asking because I just imported a file where I have a layer with all the texts outlined (since C4D can't import non-outlined text yet) and it created an Extrude for each character inside it, which is not great if you want to keep things clean keep it up!

running into an issue when im done doing the extrude/bevel and add a material things look good but when I try to add a redshift material even after its an editable object for some reason it loses the extrude and everything resets back to its original layer (flat). I thought closing the program and opening the last saved file would bring it all back but even the old autosaves reset. Is this a redshift issue or c4d issue? anyone know?

Anyone have a clue how to get Cinema 4D 2024 to see a compound path from Adobe Illustrator? For example, I have a custom font with the letter O with a compound path to make the hole in the O. Cinema 4D upon import sees the "O" as a solid object with no hole in the middle.

I played around and solved this issue. I took my custom font and removed the compound path in Adobe Illustrator. I brought both paths into Cinema 4d. One layer was called "o_hole" and the other layer which is the "o". I used a connect object to connect the splines, which punched a hole in my "o". I made the Connect object a child of the Extrude object and I was back in business.

I have been trying to bring in my vector object from Illustrator 2020 into Cinema 4D version 26 but I am unable to see the object in the viewport. I can see the Vector Import Object icon in the Objects Manager, but I can't actually see any object in the viewport. The axis tool is in the center but it doesn't seem to be attached to anything. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

I'm going crazy here... I set up an illustrator file in C4D, put a floor, set up lights and shadows to make everything look good and then once I render the illustrator logo is floating the lights are not detecting the ground or the render proces moves the file in the y axis, what I'm doing wrong???

Hi there, First time watcher. When you moved the three 'fill' objects out, it looked like you deleted the rest, is that correct? Because when I do that, it deletes the artwork and I am monumentally confused. 🤷‍♂ Cheers, Darren

The fill should give you all the seperate vector layers as their own objects at that point

Actually there's something like a roundtrip editing: you import the AI file into C4d. Inside C4D you will find the button: "Open in AI". C4D brigs you to AI. You make some modification, save the AI file and come bak to C4D. The AI file looks the same but as soon as you modify some parameters it updates to the last version saved. I hope it helps

This is an recent addition but I dont think everyone has access to cv smart dont you need a cineversity subscription?

This is CV Artsmart but built into C4D so there's no need for the plugin now.

@@beMOTIONdESIGN CV ArtSmart is a copy/paste solution. No need to save/import so they are a bit different. The ability to copy/paste on the fly is really useful.
