I applied it to my static mesh, it shows as glass in UEFN, but no material is applied when I launch a session. Is there a way to convert instance to material? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would be interesing to see not hard-to-scan objects but something like a shoe or a cap, how good detail it could catch (like a threads, textile structure etc). As well did you speed up processing? looks like working pretty fast!
@JonathanWinbush6 сағат бұрын
Yea I can test those out too. I didn't speed up at all usually I take the project to my desktop to do the procesing since my specs are way better than a laptop but the laptop is good for scanning and being mobile.

So funny to read "experts from a sofa" responds: _"Descent results - no", " It's far from professional standards", "The scan quality is mediocre... is good maybe for hobbyist"_ - I had at work Artec Eva and Artec Spyder. *One cost $19.000 and another one $35.000. Software subscription 💩 was about $1.300 per year (about the price of a WHOLE scanner in this video).* And worked a lot on photorgammetry with top DSLRs......... And I consider that quality *of the mesh* from the scanner in this video is great! At *10%* of the expensive "professional" solutions....... Regarding textures it was always an issue, especially on kind of shiny/reflective materials (like this glove). And, you can't scan actual material properties like metalness or roughness that needed for proper shading anyway.... So, I assume spoiled people that never use any 3D scanners in their life can blaming quality...... I would definetely consider to buy at that price. Especially for non-subscription permanent software license................ The only con is obvious lack of the design without a proper handle (like iron's loop handle).

Thanks so much for showing this! We had looked into 3D scanning a few years ago and even picked up a handheld one that is not as accurate as I would like. The one I have been eyeing is over 5k and now I see that this Creality one is much cheaper and more accurate! Wow tech has come a long way in 3 years. I liked how you showed how to merge the top and the bottom together. That had been another wonder of mine for those really detailed objects that need the bottom scanned. Would love to see more content like this down the road if you have the time. My hubby sculpts in polymer clay, and I have been wanting to incorporate 3D scanning to make characters that we can animate in UE. Anyways, you rock as always Winbush!
@JonathanWinbushКүн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! It's definitely come a long way the first one I had about a year or 2 ago was ok but wasn't able to scan a lot of what I wanted but the creality scanners seemed to have improved and get pretty good results. This one is about 1,500 USD I have a 10% off code in the description which should help bring the cost down but which scanner did you look at that was about 5k?
@commontimeproductionsКүн бұрын
@@JonathanWinbush We were looking at the Einscan H handheld scanner. Looking at its product page, it says it is the same accuracy, but it does not have the laser light like the Creality one. We bought the XYZ Printing 3D Scanner Pro a couple of years ago and it was about $600, but the darn software was never very good, and the scanner is on a cable which made it impossible to scan anything with any accuracy. I have tried so many different photogrammetry solutions as well and know that for our workflow, a 3D scanner we use here would be better than the photo way. Although, I love all the upgrades that Reality Scan has made recently, so that might be worth another look into.

@@commontimeproductions I can definately put you in touch if you wanted to speak with someone directly there because I know they have printers too which I believe the scanners and printers are supposed to work well together. Interesting video, I enjoyed it! I think for rough props at a distance this would be great. It’s affordable and usable, and you showed how it all works really well. I think for cinematics it isn’t detailed enough, but there are very few options that work flawlessly.
@JonathanWinbushКүн бұрын
Yup I think if you wanted to use it for an hero object up close at least for the textures it'd need touched up but I think the actual mesh for the most part is pretty good would just need some touch up in like ZBrush so smooth it out but I agree for props n such it'll work for sure

hwo much does it cost?, are there subscriptions?, can you get close in and far back to get more detail like for those buttons on the controller? is there a way to get more of the undercuts that were missing? i keep looking at scanner vids to see when this tech gets better. so far im not quite sold on it. seems like alot of cleaning is will be needed and results are not so easy to get to a level you would really say thats bulletproof. btw 3d coat is much better because of its voxel based real 3d workflow for cleaning up scans. you can also retopo and uv there and paint clean textures all in one program.

basically you can scan with same results with Reality Capture or Polycam with iPhone and then use the result as a reference for NURBS or poly modelling.

Ok, creating motion graphics is easy. It would be nice though to move on to a typical application on how to use the motion graphics. I wish to know HOW DO YOU USE IT IN A PROJECT. For example: as the KZbin video intro, lower thirds, and more within a KZbin live stream. Having this AMAZAING feature that is completely useless in a realtime application is completely pointless. May as well just stick with Davinci Resolve or a stupid power point for realtime updates in overlays and keying... The motion graphics scene has its own lighting and camera, plug that into your main scene screws everything up. If rendering out the motion graphics to a video file is the way or using another computer to my project, then heck, I stick with Davinci Resolve, or even worse a power point. I've gave up on trying to make the stupid motion graphics to work in a virtual project... My motion is simple, motion graphics is great, but nobody shows how Fox News did it, so, it's really stupid to have UE Motion Graphics if it can't be used realtime as a layer to a production... I ended up using Text Object within my scene for text overlays in my introduction, because as powerful as motion graphics are, it's just one terrible thing to add to a scene for realtime and in-camera productions.
