Solo Snowy Truck Camping & Snowshoeing in the Mountains

In this episode, I head to the mountains to test out my new snowshoes! After the beautiful hike, of course I spend the night in my truck camper in a pretty heavy snowfall.

I love snowshoeing! I think what people don’t understand is that it is SO much easier than walking in the snow; you can go up and down hills without your lungs exploding. I mean, that’s the whole point of snowshoes but I think some people get the idea that it is an odd way to get around. I miss the snow so much being here in Abu Dhabi instead of my home of Minnesota. I got about that close to a stream once and all the sudden snow broke out from under me and in a blink of an eye I was in the stream. Surprisingly it didn't seem so cold but I got out and hustled straight back to my truck. My pockets were starting to freeze when I reached for my keys, but I was actually sweating. I definitely felt cold for the rest of the day and a day or so after.

Busting out the ramen of my motherland 😁 Shin ramen can't be beat. I usually only add half the soup packet because of the sodium and add lots of spring onion, mushroom, rice cake, kimchi, cabbage, etc. Shin ramen is truly greater than Top ramen 😆

Great trip buddy! I’ve never snowshoed either, but been wanting to! This is a bit of encouragement to do it… yesterday I hiked and filmed a section of spring water trail you might like. 6 miles round trip. And it’s not really snowy normally. But it’s pretty when it is! Plus it’s woodsy… unlike some of the rest of the trail. Hope you give it a go, lemme know, and I’ll give you the details.

Johnathan, you have to get a Ulanzi power bank grip. That what I use. You can keep your GoPro connected and charged for a very long time. I used to have the same problem until I found this beauty. You’ll thank me.

When it gets super cold I usually keep my phone and other batteries close to my body/in my jacket pockets to keep them warm. Then when you need to use it the battery performs a lot better.

That heater is a Coleman 10,000BTU furnace. No need to open the roof vent. Exhaust to the outside from the burner. No Co2 inside.

Snowboard camping sounds like a great project, although expect to get the knock if you sleep in the lodge parking lots. If it's anything like Tahoe. My best luck has been with the outflow condo/timeshare street parking (if that makes sense)
