LOL, this was great Jon. I learned and laughed. Putting yourself into "character while working on the model" is very effective I think. After watching your work Jon, I am getting very interested in painting this model. I like the detail because with detailed information you provide, I can make informed decisions on how I want to proceed. Thank you very much.

Great stuff Jon! No, your videos are not too long. In my opinion they aren't long enough! 😁 Really appreciate the narrative method of model making/painting. I do the same. It helps to create and inspire intent in the subject being built/painted. That really comes out in the final product. Thanks so much for sharing this and for your soothing dulcet tones! LOL!

By the way, if any viewers are wondering if being a patron of Jon Bius, is worth it, I can say without hesitation that I have easily gotten back a lot in value to me for my $5.00 investment. He has more than 400 detailed topic videos and hundreds of blogs and Vlogs on a wide range of topics that go back to 2006. I have learned so much, and you will too.

woo hoo part two!! this is the first build series that i’ve actually caught in real time. 😅 i’ve had this jet in my stash for the better part of a decade, and so far this series has definitely been inspiring! …also, timmy from south park was the only timmy i could think of.

Thanks so much! Part of the lure of it was the fun I had singing Ork painting songs... off camera, of course. 🤣 Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi Jon - can I please ask an off-topic question? I am a newbie about to tackle the Mandalorian Razor Crest, and I am wondering do I need to put a final sealing coat on metallic paint? If yes, which one? I appreciate your channel and your help!

Putting a sealant on a metallic finish can be a bit tricky. Depending on the metallic coating used, and the clear sealant, it can either work like a charm, or dull down the metallic finish, and in some cases make it even look like light gray. My recommendation would be to do some testing on scrap plastic and see what you think. In my own work, I rarely if ever sealed metallic finishes, as I opted for lacquer products, which are very durable, and then I do not handle models once they are completed. I hope that helps - thanks for watching and commenting!

Jon, I missed your reference to Grimdark painting style. I looked it up and it seemed interesting but was not very well explained ( hint, hint ) 🤔

To be honest, I've had a hard time nailing down precisely what it is, other than a range of definitions. It's generally worn, beaten up, darker, less saturated, etc. Many describe it as having its roots in the art styles of John Blanche, a long, long time artist for GW who just retired. Most of the definitions I've read tend to fall somewhere, but not entirely, within that brief description. What I have noted with certainty is that anytime I have read through a description of it, there are always some who debate some aspect of it - "it's this, not that". I'll probably avoid the fray... :)

@@JonBius Okay Jon, if it is not a definitive style ( like stippling ) I will avoid it too. Thank you for the quick reply.

it will be the Gretchins that had to do the painting, and if one of those grots messed up, it would have a axe hole in it's head, quickly. This may explain why some Ork paint jobs reach the high standards standards of a bored teen.
