The reason you're losing so many fish is because you set the hook way too hard. Set it half that hard and i guarantee you'll land those fish. Trust in your hook, it's sharp, it'll go through. Keep up the great content! love the channel

I visited florida for a week back in summer 16 and the rain was horrible, so we thought. We stayed in the keys but me and my buddy drove out to miami everyday just for peacock. There is a little man-made lake called lake patricia and we started out with 40 shiners and used them all ripping some largies and mostly peacock. We went back and got 80 shiners this time, and headed right back to lake patricia. The rain started pouring but we didnt want to waste our shiners, so we battled through the rain and literally all 80 were used in an hour. as soon as we threw our line, Rip after Rip after Rip. I'm not telling you how to fish john, but the rain helped us with the spooking, and was on our side. Still the greatest fishing memory I have. Pat, if u read dis, WE NEED TO GO BACK ASAP. again John, its Lake Patricia, in Miami. Trust me, and make a video there

@@ferrarigirl666 exactly, I never get why all these bass fisherman's set the hook this bizarrely hard, I personally mainly fish for pike for wich hooksettinh Is barely needed, they shred ur lure so hard they usually hook themselves, but if i fish for Zander and perch with some of these more secure rigs, i set the hook with a lil sweep and its usually enough

One day it will be 80 degrees and then the next 50. Florida is all over the place when it comes to weather

We were in FL in November and it is a fisherman's paradise. I fished daily and caught so many bucket fish it was amazing, definitely nothing like it in PA. I was fishing for Jacks on day on shore and hooked into a huge tarpon and I got to fight him for about 10 seconds until it jump and threw my lure back in shore 60 feet away. I only had 17# test so I wouldn't have caught him. The ladyfish, peacocks, snook amazing!!

The weather in Florida was ALWAYS like that. It'd be raining in the front yard and sunny in the back. It'd rain for 5 minutes and then be muggy and sunny. That's just how it always was and how it still is.

Jon, if you ever are at a canal again fishing here is a tip I've learned from fishing canals in several different states. I've tried just about every bait you can think of and finally came up with a true winner. with this bait you'll almost catch a fish on every cast , it's the old but true "Rooster Tail" I use the medium size and pink and white is by far my luckiest color no matter what state I'm in or weather conditions. next color choice is blue and black last is chartreuse. good luck and next time you know you'll be hitting a canal be sure to take plenty of Mr. Rooster with you. I say plenty cause there are a lot of hang ups between the trees, lily's, and under water logs.

I live in Florida. It basically rains everyday in the summer and it comes out of no where so it's pretty hard to make outdoor plans. I'm not exactly sure what kind of gar that was but the most popular one we have here is the Florida spotted gar.

Oct. 1, 2017----Dad, brother & his family used to live at Homestead until Andrew came thru at which time, their wives said we're moving north. Now they're about 60 miles north of Tampa. Thing is, there's a lot of canals in that area and caught a lot of bass. Dads neighbor was surprised to find out I was getting so many fish from the canal across the street from Dads place. I'd take off for canals south of there, just before you get to the beginning of the keys, including one large canal that was going to be used to haul rocket motors to Cape Kennedy. Caught 2, 5 pound bass one day which was a first for me....that is, catching 5 pounders. All I ever used was shiners. Saw something one time kind of poking up out of the water and tried a Rapala and when I got closed to it, yanked the lure......only to find that I hooked a 3' alligator?! Fortunately the hook came off the gator as I had NO idea what the hell I was going to do with a 3' gator on shore with me! As to the canals I was fishing, they'd be off the main road, but got REAL careful (and armed) after a car was pulled from one of them with 2 dead bodies inside the trunk. Drug deal gone bad is what the cops said. As to the peacock bass and tilapia, they weren't there, but then this was back in the late 70's. As for gar, there's a Texan with a video on how to eat 'em. When I caught 'em, they got chopped up either for turtles to eat, but mainly as fertilizer.
