He has at least one of each two cylinder tractor John Deere made from the GP up to the 830.

You definitely picked the right tractor.....electric start, pto, dual hyd., and a 1960 year model. All the drawbar holes actually showed little wear. I've seen the holes so wallered out, they were welded up. What a shed of tractors. I could have spent hours looking them over.

Yes, we ended up paying $1000 more for this one instead of one of the other two... But now that we have this one and I've re watched this, ours is in a lot better condition that either of those other two. And they weren't really in too rough of shape.

Most interesting video. That is quite a collection that gentleman has. Can't wait to see the one your dad is restoring.

It's funny how that happens. You look at a couple of pieces of equipment and you come home with something not on the radar. The cab does make it unique.
@jonelsonster7 ай бұрын
Yeah, we ended up removing the cab because it was too tall to fit in our barns and shop... But I liked it.

The coolant plug on that first one is actually a block heater which I understand are no longer available. I bought a 730 diesel electric start when I started farming in the early 90s. I went into my John Deere dealer and they had one on the shelf. That was how I got the ol girl running in cold weather.
@jonelsonster7 ай бұрын
That's what we guessed it was. It took us a minute to figure out what was going on. But can't to the conclusion that it was a heater.

That pump you thought was the hydraulic pump is the power steering pump. The hydraulic pump is up by the starter and has a lever to engage or disengage.

8306157- Jan 11, 1960 to Richley, Montana. I really like your choice on that 830. I have my own opinions about the paint but you guys do what makes you happy! Drawbar wear is a GREAT way to judge wear. My 80 drawbar is REALLY eggshaped, and the mechanical condition to match
@jonelsonster7 ай бұрын
I really wanted my dad to just leave the paint as is. The whole tractor was about as original as they come... But that's not what he wanted. He wanted to to look new.
