Thanks from a UK arable farmer just north of London. All our land was cleared by ancient man by flint head axes! So nobody has any new ground to break. When I was younger in the 1980s, I spent time in Zimbabwe, southern Africa and saw land still being "stumped" with the timber saved to burn to make steam to condition tobacco. Your job reminded me of that, except it was +35C and humid at Christmas!

I have to disc a former garden and the bumpy lawn around it before the ground freezes here east of Saint Paul Minnesota. I’m doing it on a smaller scale with my Toro 522xi garden tractor and two Agri Fab discs attached in tandem. I just have to bolt a hitch to the front of the disc with parts I have sitting around.

Yes.. those willow and popple will come back up the next year if you don't keep it tilled. Takes about 4 good years to get most willows rooted and pretty much one year for the popples. I just went through clearing two fields up here in northern Minnesota. Sure like the kello-bilt. Does a good job.

It's funny to me because when I was growing up on my grandfather's farm, he would never do any tillage while snow was on the ground. I questioned him about this and he told me that turning the snow in would sour the soil. I guess that was an old time myth.
@Northern_Farmer2 ай бұрын
I have never heard that before...but there is probably some truth to it if there was a lot of snow
@davidgingery89272 ай бұрын
@Northern_Farmer If there was even a skif of snow, he wouldn't sink a disc or plow into the soil. Like I said, it may have been something passed down to him and he was passing it on to me, but he was very adamant about not turning it under. This is the same man that would not fix the headlights on our tractors because he said when it gets dark it's time to quit and we would start fresh the next morning. He had a lot of old time practices that he believed in and it always seemed to work out for us.

The 325 really rolls the dirt. "I wish the front gang blades were as good as the rear gang", just like the D8, anything is possible, it just takes more money! BUT, more money is getting harder to come by, especially when Trudeau is upping the carbon tax! Time to dump that bugger.
