The last two rounds was so good narratively. (Spoilers below) . . . . . . Working so hard to gain the needed knowledge, & faced with so much adversary / fear... Yet it was those that Eila support along the way that helped her back when she needed it most :) ...... And then there's that sudden shift in tone with the great tree :(

I was expecting something lame but that was unexpected. It has resource management, engine building, choice and consequences. The end also gives a clear motivation to complete the campaign: to save your friend instead of just pure curiousity. A very good way to rope kids into solo gaming. Better start them young 😈

This game is so adorable, this is would be very nice game to teach for kids, I love how companies make also more educational/mechanical games not just party type of games that suit for little ones. I don't have kids, but I am very happy about this type of games. Also seems good to teach a bit of english for those, whom it is not first language.

I like these mechanics, honestly! This would be a really interesting engine for a "Reign"-esque game, where you're a leader of some sort balancing many concerns and resources. Infrastructure type cards would go into the "future" pile on use, but being shuffled in means you can't, for example, count on your lumbermills to have produced wood when you need it, only to get it at some point.

I know that this video is old, but it would have been nice if the cute stuffed animal remain in future videos for awhile after this one at the time it was uploaded. It might have made a good mascot for awhile, and maybe it might have lead to a more permanent one after a while. As for my thoughts on the game itself, it was very cute, and very relaxing. I did see thought that if you have gotten to day 5 or 6 in the game, the fear that you would have gained from those event cards might have started to build too fast that it might have gotton to the point that you have to discard your knowledge cubes, erasing the work you done so far to get them. Also, I did notice that you didn't explain what you would have to do if you would have to gain fear if you already have 8 fear cubes on the board (in summary, getting a 9th one when you already have 8), but I can't tell if the rulebook was edited since then to mention that. Anyway, it was a good light solo game that I enjoyed watching, and maybe one day, you'll have another game on the channel covering something simliar in the future. Finally, I also noticed that this game might also be one of your shorter tutorials/playthroughs on your channel, since the total time between both videos is only 45 minutes. Hopefully, we'll see another video within that time flame in the future one day. P.S. It was a nice surprise that the last card that came up gave you the magic stone that you need to complete the game one day earlier. Obviously, you were already building up to that stone to complete it on the next day, and I think the card gave you a break at the right time. Now I just wonder what options the pendent would have offered you in future chapters, and if it would have been important in the final chapter of the game.

I still have the Eila stuffed animal sitting on my desk, it was too cute to leave the studio :) I'm glad you enjoyed this video, it was certainly different from most of the games I cover here.

@@GettingGames Do you think anymore solo-style games might make it on your channel for tutorials in the future? I won't mind seeing another game like Eila pop up on your channel in the future, since it's felt that we exploring a story with you together. In fact, when I watch your tutorials, I always picture as if you telling a story between the different players and what they're doing, and you also imagine how they felt when "red does this to yellow" for example. That why I'm always interested in your videos for that reason.

Hi john .. great video as usual. Can you give us your thoughts about replayability of chapters? Do you think a kid will enjoy replay a chapter twice, 3 times or more?
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's tough to say for multiple reasons. The first is that I've only played this the one time and the demo only had a tutorial chapter and this one so I have no idea what the next ones look like and I do know there are more complicated mechanics coming with things like die rolling. I also don't have any real experience playing games with kids, so I don't know how engaged they are to do things multiple times, sorry to not be of much help.

Not sure if you would've beat the advanced mode. Didn't it only have 2 hearts? You lost 2 hearts on normal, so I think you would've lost on advanced. Either way, thanks for the playthrough! Neat game.

That's a good point, we would have lost when the 2nd heart was lost.

Advanced mode is probably for replaying. I feel like you really need to know beforehand what is coming to survive that.

played and finished Eila, or at least played until the finale. Man this is such a piece of crap.
