Thanks for the reaction! Listening to this song is so very bittersweet, but I appreciate the fact that Jonghyun wanted us to have something happy to remember him by and I will try to honor his wish as best as I can. SHINee is and always will be one of my favorite groups ever. That whistling in the background was lowkey driving me insane though! :P

What he says at the beginning is the korean title of the song, a word pronounced like "bich" means light

Zac Redington That's correct, but that's not the context in which the OP mentioned 'bich'. When it's pronounced 'bich' it's not a stand-alone word but part of a complex/compound word. This is important to distinguish and clarify for those who don't speak the language so as to not mislead them into erroneously thinking that the way you pronounce the Korean analog of 'light' is 'bich'.

I think I have noticed this with many artists. Whether it's music, storytelling, art (painting, drawing, etc), etc., many of them say it's never good enough when to others, it will always seem amazing because some of us will never have that same amount of talent so we always think it's good. Especially with Jonghyun, who had depression, I think it was worse than average. And, it's also about perspective. I have a lot of friends who do art and know of people who do art as well as those who do music and they always say what they produce is never good enough - they are always trying to perfect it when other people say it's fine.

It's something unofficially known as the artist's struggle; those who place themselves in creative fields tend to process things differently from the average person and also tend to never feel satisfied with their work-part of this is because there's never one right answer for art, and to create something completely from scratch and suddenly see something you perceive is better than your own work can be crippling if you don't develop a thick skin and good bout of confidence. Art is a direct extension of an artist's heart, mind, and soul, and it's a deeply personal thing despite being fun and up-lifting. Sometimes we equate that to our personal value and coupled with depression and other factors of difficulty, it can be impossible to cope. Unfortunately, Jonghyun, an artistic champion in his industry couldn't overcome that. It's a tragedy and a shame but unfortunately not unheard of ;;

Thank you for doing this. I voted on twitter too so I'm happy you posted it :) This was actually really emotional for me because the MV didn't make me cry.. I just felt kinda numb but now with the commentary and that moment you realized what he said in the chorus and well teared up as well... I just burst into tears.. It shows that you genuinely care and it's not just for the views... I just wish there would have been more reactions to Jonghyun before he left us... I feel like most people will now only link his music to his depression and not appreciate it for the great music it is (not saying you guys did. Alexa xyz that's the sad thing about his death, I look at old SHINEE videos and anything related to jonghyun and the first comment is "RIP Jonghyun" or "so sad" while I understand that people are hurting and doing that to send their condolences but I feel like it taints the older songs in a way and doesn't make shinee feel like their usual 5HINEE. when I watch anything SHINEE or Jonghyun since he left I don't feel sad, I am glad he did what he did and I just say "you did what you did and you are happy" while it does hurt and they were all tainted in a way. You shouldn't look at it differently look at it as a privilege. It hurts me as well but I genuinely smile and laugh when watching these videos then when they are over I feel all of the pain but I do not want to change any of the videos or memories

tentenwolfgirl That's literally the reason why I would try to add a smiley icon or heart at the end of the comments under SHINee's videos, I will write many bright comments and compliments the members just like the old days, because, you know, the memories are just genuinely happy, funny and joyful, it seems so blue with all those "RIP JongHyun" comments, some couldn't even write his name properly.

1) YES the whole album is amazing on its own merit. 2) Thank you for being such a considerate person. 3) I was okay the first time I saw it, just appreciating the quality of the video which is so good, until the "Always be with you" sunk in and that's when I broke. I wonder what it would be like to do a comparison of someone who didn't know the story surrounding the video, watching it first on its own and then watching it again after being told. I keep asking myself 'am I reading too much into it?' because I know and I'm still really emotional (like the imagery of music as something recorded on different formats next to "always be with you" coupled with the 2001 homage [Yes, Kevin!] with themes of evolution/death/rebirth), but then we're Jonghyun who was so precise about every detail in his art.

Thank you so much for this reaction vid. At first, I was scared to watch this but I’m happy I decided to watch it. I couldn’t feel any emotion at all, but I started crying when you were commenting on the music. I had to cry, when he sang ‘I’ll always be with you’. I’m still giving myself the fault for not being able to do something for him. Until the very end, he did everything to bring joy to us and I couldn’t do anything to pay him back... so I decided not to let all his effort be in vain. I’ll do my best not to let him be forgotten to the world, to the Kpop world. (This might sound cringy to you, but it’s really just what I’m thinking, so I mean it)

I bought the album. Since I'm disabled, it was a big expense for me, but I wanted to support his music and show appreciation for all he did as a musician. I thought he was one of the few K-Pop artists who had the right combination of talent, a unique sound and that something extra to cross over into Western pop and make it big. But such is not to be now. All these months later, and it still hurts so bad to know he's gone. At least we have his music, though.

OOOOh no, when Umu started tearing up I started crying. I finally felt ready to watch this but it's still so surreal that our beautiful shining star is not gonna make any more music. Every time I listen to his songs it hits me again and again that we're never going to hear his voice in any other song again and it just really hurts :( It's so sad that he felt like he could never be enough when he was absolutely everything and more. there is no reason to not listen to his music, he left and we can't change that. the only thing we can do is keep listening to remember him, because he was amazing, and I'll not listen just to remeber him or honor him, I'll keep listening becuase every song is just so good that I want to hear them. that said he was clearly very, very ill and seem to have had everything planned out for quite a while. Thank you for the reaction, it really highligthed everything I love about the song and about being a SHINee and Jonghyun fan, the music was always more complex.
