Man, this concert must have been crazy. One of the greatest songwriters of all time with Joni, and band just happens to include one of the best guitarists of all time in Pat Metheny. Then, you know, just Jaco Pastorius he's pretty much just the undisputed greatest bassist of all time. This band just shits greatness.

@glendenig99626 жыл бұрын
Phillip Hardy I've read many articles about Jaco as well as his biography and learned that Joni had a way of telling him what to play without actually doing so this not offending him. She gave him the position of music director in all her productions. I think Jaco felt he had complete musical and spiritual freedom in this group.

Glen Denig no one needed to tell a Brilliant musician how to play. you have never listened to Pastorius or you would know what he played was pure JACO, go check him out .

jsilence418 Ah... you misunderstand my friend. This is meant as a compliment to both Jaco and Joni. They were a rare and awesome team. They understood each other very well. The musicians on her albums in general were amazing how they played and listened to each other. The meaning of my comment was that Joni encouraged her team to play and engage as a band at their fullest potential not holding back yet making way for each other's creative input. Thanks for your challenging comment however.

Couldn't agree more. I have a particular disdain for almost anyone who says that they're the best in the world at anything. But, when Jaco has said that he's the "greatest bass player in the world," that's really hard to argue with. There are other great bass players, but he is absolutely in a class all his own. Pure genius.
