I was there. It was magical. I was almost too young to truly appreciate it. I had albums featuring every artist on the stage, and didn’t know until the concert started who would be in her band. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Jaco for more than a second or two all night, but Michael Brecker was a monster too. I’ve been to lots of good and great concerts since, but I don’t think any performance could top that night in 1979 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.

I saw Joni in South Bend Indiana in 1974. I know the date because she commented on the Notre Dame UCLA basketball game that had just been played where ND broke UCLA's 88 game winning steak. She of course knew nothing about basketball but bet on ND, "for the underdog" while on the bus with a member of her crew and seemed kinda happy to have won the bet. Joni was gorgeous, transcendent, perfect. Congrats on your memory. I'm pretty happy with mine as well.
