What a very rare talent. I feel privileged to have lived through the same period of time as Joni. So as to enjoy her music for so many years. It will never be matched by another.

This performance changed my entire outlook on alternate guitar tunings forever. I’d never heard it quite so haunting and somber before. Game changer.

Got to know Joni from a bbc documentary in 1984 when I lived in Manchester UK, I was blown away by her unique stylish guitar-playing talent and the artistic side of her painting turned me inside out… I went to the city centre the following day and bought every available album of her’s. My favourite all time track is ‘circle game’ which I could listen to all day, if time permits. Joni is a special rock & roll gift to mankind. ❤ ❤❤.

I've loved her music from as far back as when I was 7 years old and the first time I heard Court and Spark in 1974. At that time I was far too young to know who she was, nor even the name of the artist whose songs I heard on the radio at that time was. But they stayed with me my entire life. It wasn't until I was maybe a little order that I was lucky enough to catch her name, when a DJ gave it after playing one of her songs. But even then, it was not as it is now when you can just go online and spend hours filling your mind with history, pictures, songs, etc., of an artist. This didn't exist back then, and wouldn't for a few more decades. But since then, I have filled my life with her music, and as someone commented further down the comment trail, I feel so very lucky to have lived during a time when a musician such her did. I only wish that maybe I could have experienced her live during those early years of the 60s and 70s. But hey. . . Maybe the next time around. :)

I like surprises when listening to music. From the first hearing of a Joni song, I knew she was exceptional. Her chord work and timing broke all the rules. Fifty five years later, I’m still in awe of her originality. I also loved Prince. Interesting that the last album he purchased was one of Joni’s. ❤️❤️

I will always remember my first real job, away from any family (Upstate NY) in Houston tx. I had nothing, but I got the job I wanted that friends thought I was crazy to go for!!! 1979, interest rates at 15*% for mortgages, and me a dumb ass kid wanted to work for a large homebuilder as a supt. trainee. But back to Joni, I rented a small one bedroom on the 2nd floor with a little balcony. After I rented it I don't think I saw in day light but a few times. I would come home and turn on the stereo (no TV) and sit on the balcony having a few beers. and listen. Of course I got scolded by the manager, (rightly so), but I still remember to this day, the young lady that lived in the apartment next door (I think had a young kid) said to me. "Phil, I really like your music" . I never met her, don't know how she knew my name, BUT I sure do wish now, I took the time in day light to say hello, and introduce myself.

why do joanie's audiences after about 1990 always look like she's just this required little h'ordeuvre or brief internship needed to climb over in order to become important or noticeable themselves?? something to ponder....although not as prosaicly convenient i'd imagine as the usual subtopic about her....
