For me, as a Canadian, she is a national treasure, unparalleled, without equal, and arguably the most innovative artist who has emerged in my lifetime. She’s unlike any one else and stands alone in the quality, integrity and range of her art. Comfortable in multiple musical idioms, deeply emotional and gifted lyricist, guitar player non pareil ... music would be diminished without her singular contribution.

The orchestrated version of Both Sides Now, is stunning, it is so far removed from how it was initially recorded, it has a beautiful new mood, and Joni sings it from wisdom and experience of life, it is touching and incredibly moving, listening to it, I had tears in my eyes, beautiful.

@@ppumpkin3282 Ah, she did pretty well by it. She can't hit those high notes any more, and she's got a whole orchestra instead of a guitar, but she was still Joni. She won me over again in the end, with her still-mischievous, sweet smile and the passion she let out. She transformed back to a young woman while singing. She's great still.

@@kimiannone1524 In the 60's he was - as Alan Ginsberg astutely said - 'channeling' a very different energy than that of his later years. As Dylan has very honestly said himself, he has no idea who that person was anymore. Maybe he was plugged into the same shamanistic stream that flowed through Woody Guthrie? But it stopped flowing. Personally I think Dylan was embarrassed by the Nobel award and took months to succumb to blandishments even to deign to receive it. (back in the day, it was Clapton who was 'God'... at least in the UK) Joni got manipulated by the 'vaccine' scam - vulnerable as she was through illness and feelings of rejection by the music biz. She and Young sold out big time... I loved them both - but no longer...

She attended Saskatchewan's Centennial Year in 2005 at their invitation as that is where she grew up as a child and teen; the Banff Center, a world-renowned audio & visual arts development and research school in a resort town in Alberta's Rocky Mountains, has had her as a consultant as she was born not too far away in Fort MacLeod (pronounced McCloud); and of course she has had her principal residence on the British Columbia Coast near Vancouver since the 1970's, her "For The Roses" album cover photo was taken there.

My dad turned me on to Joni Mitchell after he had heard and fell in love with Free Man in Paris while on a road trip. When he came home, he bought me Court and Spark, on vinyl, of course. In that format, I listened to side one over and over, which included Free Man in Paris, and never listened to side two, even though my cousin told me it was also good. I had a similar experience. It was probably 1971, at a Renaissance Festival in B.C., Canada. My girlfriend & I were exhibitors so we were there before the public was allowed in. I took a walk and ended up in this huge empty tent with a piano in the middle and Joni Mitchell practicing. I guess this was before Joni Mitchell had managers/handlers, since I don't remember anyone else being in the tent. When she finished she walked over to me, sat down & started a conversation. I was awestruck!

I listened to the words of this song in the late 60’s and loved it but it really hits home with me now 50 years later! Now I really “get it”. Seeing life from both sides...... amazing version,,,,poignant, haunting and incredibly moving and beautiful !!

In the presence of genius… The mood the lighting her poignant and deepened voice reminded me of the later days of Judy Garland as she sang in a black turtle neck in the spotlight. And thanks to whoever conceived this beautiful rendition with the full orchestra. Stunning. Joni … forever my heart- heroine 💙🙏✨

I'm balling my eyes out! (She's so stunning)...your ❤ is so gorgeous Joni Mitchell! In 1970 I had your album...WOODSTOCK album too...my DEJA Vu is relived...like encyclopedias...volumes of stacked daily incidents! Rosie...I wish you'd come back to TV! I used to sit at home, watch you, draw your logo , hoping to meet you someday. My dream is to talk with you & Joni...ahhhhh but I can dream. To think Graham Nash lived in Santa Barbara where I used to live...50+ years I lived there...I want to go back home Rosie, I hope you DO come back to TV. It was the wrong time b4; it's the right time now Hon. I'd love to see BOTH you come back on TV! I 💘 you girls!💕💋🎤🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹

Joni is the voice of my youth. Her song writing and performances were brilliant. Not the rap drivle we have today. Her music was moving and inspirational.

Joni's been there for us since I was in my teens....grown with her...and loved every twist and turn and smooth roads...Heard her in Austin Tx in the 1970's....Dylan showed up...What impressed me so much ...her concert and records were identical in quality....which told me she didn't rely on studio tricks and production....amazing

Ross Gill a lot of people think this is Judy Collins’ song. And “Urge for Going” was Tom Rush. And “Woodstock” was CSN...God knows how many Dylan songs are attributed to Peter, Paul and Mary!
